does anyone know of what to do.

My wife and mother in law were cleaning up the yard at our new house and both got in contact with poison oak.

anyone have some good advice?

LHPD got in some not too long ago. He took rubbing alcohol and rubbed all over where he was exposed. That seemed to dry up the oil from the oak, and it started healing very quickly.

Once it has cleared up, go to the doctor and get a shot. they now can give you a shot that keeps you from getting it again.

her mom lives about 90 miles away....and came down to help clean my yard.

i have to help her, besides she has friends on this board so i have to be nice.

Try Ivy Dry Super. CVS carries it and it works great on poison ivy or poison oak.

the alcohol thing works for a temporary cure.....as a doc put it to me once...treat it from the inside out....the shot does wonders to cure it up quickly!!!

I don't know if it still burns or not, but after the alcohol apply some warm milk. It soothes it even more.

I have to agree with those that recommend a shot... I tried home remedies for about 2 weeks and that just seemed to make the posion ivy mad... Not only did I get a shot but was put on strong steriods for a week...

thanks for all of the input.

i am trying to convince my wife to go get a shot...in the mean time we will try some of these other remedies
