I got to hear what was said on the air this morning on XM's opie and anthony. He really didn't mean to do it and apologized immediately.

That is a little harsh on the station's part. The man was obviously speaking praises of it and just had an unfortunate slip of the tongue that could happen to anyone. And also he apologized right away and then later. What ever happened to forgive and forget especially in something that was really just an unfortunate accident? I have heard a lot worse from others and no apologies or firings were done at all. Remember Howard Stern and Selena?

He was try to convey what a "coup" it would be for the NFL to get condi Rice as the new commisioner. He slipped and said "coon" and was promptly fired thirty minutes later. Fired, despite a sincere apology immediately after he said it. I think in his head he combined coup and boon.

You can find out on the link. I think there may have been other issues. I bet the station was actually wanting to get rid of him and this just gave them an excuse. Those in Corpus Christi remember the blunt firing of Bernie Sealle (spelling) a few years ago.
