I have been there many times, but not since 1979. Back then we could just randomly wonder the halls of the capitol building. It was really cool.
Washington D.C. as a whole if very cool. I would encourage any and every american to spend a few days there, and see everything you can. It really gives you a great appreciation for this country and the great things our forefathers did to insure the way of life we enjoy today. To bad so many have twisted their words from what their original intent really was in many cases.

While I would also encourage such a visit, folks need to know ahead of time that the reality of the world we live in today has made sightseeing in DC somewhat problematic. Security is super-tight even at places you would not think of as potential targets. Metal detectors, xray machnes, guards, cameras, etc are everywhere. This makes entering many places very time consuming. Not saying I disagree with the security, just stating the obvious. And I must admit sometimes I find myself wondering just how we got to this sad state.

yes there is security everywhere, but we (me, the Mrs. & young'un) didnt experience any long lines at all ......... it was no real inconvenience

I really like that pic. A wonderful view that is awe inspiring.:)
Do you still have the same digital camera you used at the games some time back? If so, remind us what it is because that shot is very sweet.

Aransas Pass Middle School history classes took a group of 45 8th graders to DC for spring break.

They were gone from Saturday until this past Friday. I am told all went well....I hope they make the same trip next year when my daughter is in 8th grade.:)

it was really neat --- the guided tour is the way to go, but you have to plan months ahead thru your congressman's office
