District 20-3A Baseball starts this Tuesday, March 21. District 20-3A ought to be an interesting race. Just thought I would include some things about each team. Please add more if you know some things about each team. Tell us your thoughts as well.

Columbus - District Champion last year in '05. All of their stud pitching is back and they swing the sticks well. Their record doesnt show it but they have battled well with alot of bigger schools and for the most part have played very well. They will probably repeat.

Bellville - Has been playing well of late. Made it to the championship in a tough Weimar Tournament over the last weekend and opens up with Navasota on Tues. They are very scrappy and they have alot of speed on the basepaths...Pitching is good and their sticks should pull them through.

Navasota - Havent heard much about the Rattlers but they have two very good arms coming back to be on the mound for them. I know they beat Bryan High 2-1 and has played more and more consistent everytime out. Look for them to be in the playoffs. Watch out for the Rattlers.

Rice Cons. - High expectations for the Raiders this year. Could very well fight for one of the playoff spots.. They have started out slow but if the Cook kid comes around and their sticks start manufacturing more runs they could be deadly. They have the heart and desire..Watch out for the Raiders.

Sealy - Has been getting alot of runs scored on them as of late. Dont know if its cause of errors or alot of hits against them.. They have good sticks in their lineup and average pitching...Never know about them Tigers.

Hempstead - A struggling baseball school. Kids try very hard and we wish them well. Go Bobcats!

any other thoughts on this district...Thanks...Hope I didnt make anyone mad!!!!

Why does Hempstead struggle so much? Coaching, not enough kids coming out for the program?

Columbus will end with at 9-1 in district and win it all.

Bellville will be 7-3 and take second.

Navasota will end up at 6-4 and squeek in.

Rice 5-5 just missing the playoffs.

Sealy 4-6 out.

Hempstead 1-10 out.

I didn't try to see if all those add up or not just a quick thought on District 20-3A.

Navasota may be better than people expect and end up making a run for District champs. (homer thoughts)
:D :hand:

Columbus and Bellville are the cream of a fairly dry crop. Rice and Navasota will be fighting for the 3rd playoff spot.

They have improved from last year. We beat them 16 to 1, but they are much better than last year. Anyone else have some scores from around the district? Last I heard Sealy was trailing Columbus 3 to 1 in the 5th.

Sealy will be lucky if they do that good. No offense to the guys on the team but...There is a lot of raw talent on that team and maybe a guy or two that could play college ball. Sealy's problem i believe is with its coaching. Now I know I am entitled to my opinion and thats why I'm gonna let you have it. Sealy has a very limited amount of coaching. The Head coach is more worried about what people think about him that he is worried about his team. When you start the year with only 4 seniors and you're gonna end with only 1 maybe 2 thats not saying much. Another thing that is hard for me to understand is why does sealy have its current head baseball coach, who is doin a piss poor job, when they have a coach there who took his waco robinson team to the state tournament the first year he was there. Nope they have him as the "Junior High Athletic Coordinator." I don't care of the guy doesn't want to coach baseball anymore or not. It is time for a change in the town of sealy as far as baseball is concerned.

I guess the coach is the one who has all the AB's and makes all the plays in the field!

Bellville 3-0
Columbus 3-0
Rice 2-1
Navasota 1-2
Hempstead 0-3
Sealy 0-3

Bellville-----------Columbus and Sealy.
Rice---------------Columbus and Navasota.
Sealy-------------Bellville and Hempstead.
Columbus--------Bellville and Rice
Hempstead----- Sealy and Navasota.
Navasota-------- Rice and Hempstead.

I think this is right.

Cook threw the whole game for rice, and shifflet(dun know how to spell his name) started and threw 130 pitches in 4 innings then busa(i think thats his name) then lara came in and finished the game.

Maybe so, but I guess it wasnt effective enough to defeat Navasota.

Actually it wasn't the pitching that lost the game, but all the defensive errors.

lets just say that you shouldnt count us out of the playoff run. we win 3 more and we play a playoff game with navasota if it comes down to it.

So I guess Navasota shouldn't even show up for the game with Rice.

just try to remember the game last year in navasota. we have 7 returners from last year and i can guarantee that they dont forget that game and how it ended. it was one of the biggest games for us last year, but this year its going to be the biggest game that rice has played so far in school history, that should be enough said right there. and i really hope that navasota shows up for the game and makes it another really awsome game like the last one.

If I remember right that game was poorly play (lots of errors), poorly pitched (lots of hits) and lots of runs scored. I think the Rattlers ended up winning the game. If its the game I'm thinking of it was like 11-10 Navasota. I could easily be wrong about this though.

Sounds like raider4life has it on video and watches it often. He should be able to give us the scoop on that game.
