Sinton66's Tortilla Burger
Basically, it starts with a half pouind of hamburger meat pressed into a patty. Sprinkle with garlic salt and coarsely ground black pepper on both sides and pat in spices. Cook over mesquite fire until done. Heat up flour tortillas, spread with mayo/mustard. Spread a thin layer of refried beans on the tortilla. From there, it's what ever you like on a regular hamburger, but it isn't a REAL tortilla burger without jalapenos.

The patties can be fried like a normal hamburger too, but the mesquite makes all the difference in the world.

pecan being one of 17 hickory varieties would be good
but a nice balanced blend of pecan and mesquite is nice

and is it just straight beef or can you fix it up ie L perrins, minced onion, garlic bread crumb

and the tortilla i imagine burrito size yet homemade?
could you make it a garlic/herb or spinach?

just wanted to know
pardon if any blaspheming incured on this post

BJG, if that doesn't work out, you can always go over to that German Restaurant, Eidleweiss!

If you can find a Tin Star franchise, you'll be helped to a similar delicacy in their cheeseburger tacos.

A co-worker of mine said there is/was a place in Refugio that made good tortilla burgers. I'll have to keep my eyes open next time I drive through.

Anybody else's town have a unique food speciaity like the tortilla burger from Sinton? Another one I could think of is the "Dublin Dr. Pepper" which is bottled in Dublin, TX and uses Imperial Cane Sugar for a sweetner. These are unique and shipped out to places all over the U.S., and possibly world.

If you can get it where you are, try Fiesta Brand Texas Style Fancy Steak Seasoning or Fiesta Fajita Seasoning. (Made by Bolner's Foods in San Antonio.) Both are GREAT over mesquite.

I do the straight beef and season it as stated, but to each his own I guess. My recipe is designed to work with mesquite only.

Their kind of...... what word should I use?....... unique?  and the very special Highlander Inn "we're out of ribeyes, but we just found one more in the back of the freezer behind the catfish" unique steak.

With all the crap I have ever thrown on a tortilla and ate, I cant believe I never conjured up one of these. This sounds great! Think I'll have to whip one of those up when I get home. Yall made me hungry as all get out. I'll just blame that extra pound on you guys tomorrow. I think I still have one hole left on the end of the belt. I'm not real sure though, cause I cant see it.

Here's an extra hint if you plan on serving them to kids. Use only one tortilla, a smaller patty (or a full size cut in half), and fold the tortilla in half like a taco.

My wife just whipped up a spicy pot of beans this afternoon. Tortilla burgers sound good for dinner tomorrow. The other thing in Sinton that I like to order is the Super Roll taco for breakfast. Carne guisada, beans, cheese, and of course, jalepenos and salsa. MmmmMmmm:)
