COOPER'S ANGEL TO BE RECOMMENDED AS CANTON AD/FOOTBALL COACH



Lance Angel has confirmed he'll be recommdended by superintendent Dr. Jerome Stewart on Thursday as athletic director and head football coach at Canton High School.

The recommendation will come on Thursday.

Angel has been the head coach at Cooper High School since 2002, and has compiled an overall record of 30-17 at Cooper. All four of his teams made the playoffs.

Angel has also been an assistant coach at Aledo, Elgin, and Wink.

He was an assistant when Aledo beat Cuero for the Class 3-A State Championship in 1998.

If the recommendation is approved, Angel will replace Gary Joe Kinne who is now an assistant coach at Baylor University.

Angel will appear on my afternoon talk show today at 4:30pm.

I'm just saying Aussie, he's going into a tough situation in my opinion.

Is the QB staying or going to Waco?

He's got some pretty big shoes to fill. It won't be an easy task is all I'm saying.

I know this is going to sound pretty patronizing, but I wouldn't be surprised if Gilmer starts out ranked #1 IMO.

I hope he is a better coach then his dad was for Canton's sake. If hes like his dad he will have G.J. Kinne running the wishbone.
