You're implying that UT doesn't have tradition?

I think he's just saying that A&M is well-known for all its quirky traditions. It has quite a few more than UT, or any other school I've ever heard of for that matter.

And I like all those quirky traditions, so I have to say TAMU.

I do not know of the UT traditions but I can share with you the A&M traditions that I speak of:

Standing up at the games
The Corps of Cadets which is the largest (approx 1,900 students) uniformed body outside of the service academies.
Bonfire
Reveille
Naturally the 12th man
Elephant Walk
Yell Practice
Silver Taps
Muster

I'm sure there are many more than that but that is a heck of a list. A&M has a storied tradition and that is one reason I like that university better. Both are fine universities and I would send my kids to either one.

PS: (Too many weirdo's in Austin for this country boy and if you live in Austin you know what I mean)

Maybe so, but they somehow manage to do it perfectly every time. You either admire it, or are jealous of it. I choose to admire it.

Silver Taps at A&M
By Mrs. Jeanette Hennigan ©

You hear about the Aggie Band
And the Spirit of Aggieland.
But few have heard the Farewell Hymn
Of Silver Taps at A&M

All day the flag flies at half-mast.
A sign to us of a solemn task,
To bid farewell to one who’s gone.
With Silver Taps he’s not alone.

The night is dark and very still.
Where Sully stands the area fills
With a silent crowd of those who care.
Their hearts all joined in silent prayer

The Ross Volunteers, the honor guard,
Speak for us all as their guns discharge.
Twenty-one guns now blast the air
And fade away in the darkness there.

The taps blow loud from the tower near.
And twice again so faint, yet clear.
Like rustling wings of a soul in flight,
Silver Taps fades in the night.

You stand spellbound, you scarcely breathe.
With heavy heart you turn to leave.
Your Aggie friend no more you’ll see,
Till Silver Taps is blown for thee.

Silver Taps at A&M
Will always be our farewell hymn
To those who’ve gone to heights unknown.
With Silver Taps, he journeys on.

Well, I don't want to belabor the point. I'm just proud of Texas A&M, I'm proud of all our colleges in Texas.

But mainly, I'm proud we have the opportunity to have good schools like A&M and Texas.

Remember the men and women who fight for our freedoms. They are the real heros.

I'm half and half. My uncle(father's brother) went to A&M, so that side of the family cheer for the Aggies. My mother and all of her family live in Austin and cheer on the Horns. UT/A&M games always have divided my family in half, so I guess you can say I cheer them both.

1.) The UT Tower is head and shoulders above that 3 story clock thing A&M has. That isn't even comparable.

2.) The A&M band isn't special. It's a group of people who play instruments and march in a formation. Every university has that.

2.) Texas has the following--

Texas/OU Weekend Festivities
Cotton Bowl/Red River Rivalry
UT Remembers
Scipt Texas
Alumni Band
Big Bertha
Texas Cannon
40 Acres Fest
The Eyes of Texas
Gabriel
Texas-Exes
Orange/White Santa
Texas Angles
Explore UT!
Gone to Texas!
T-Association
Hex Rally
Main Tower Graduation
Longhorn Foundation
Omaha
"Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late, Wear Orange!"
Texas Fight!
Texas Relays
Painting the Drag
Texas Spirits
Texas Cowboys
Longhorn Hellraisers
