Carrolton Ranchview has twin brothers, Wayne and Jerymdrell Burton (both 6-8) that are Katrine evacuees. CR was 4A a few years back.

Dallas Roosevelt is full of former Wilmer-Hutchins players. (WH closed last summer)

Yes, Wilmer-Hutchins had to close because the school board was stealing money. I'm not one to be ridiculing school systems, but this story was a total joke. To the point they had to close the entire WH school. Terrible way to treat kids.
A bad example to show kids about adults.

Now, fast forward to this year. Some of these kids on the Roosevelt team are former WH students?

Wow...a bad example again proving that adults steal, and they can get on a state championship team? Terrible...just terrible. But then, is it their justice?

CR was never 4A ... they started 3A a few years ago

and I believe the majority of displaced W-H students went to SOC, not Roosevelt

About our earlier discussion about SOC.

South Oak Cliff tops Seagoville for state berth, 72-63

01:58 AM CST on Sunday, March 5, 2006
By KATE HAIROPOULOS / The Dallas Morning News

GARLAND – South Oak Cliff's Darrell Arthur, a 6-9 McDonald's All-American, is known for playing his best in games that matter most.

He showed why in Saturday's showdown against Dallas ISD rival Seagoville in the Class 4A Region II basketball final at the Garland Special Events Center.

Arthur took over in a key stretch in the third quarter and finished with 30 points and 15 rebounds to lead SOC to a statement-making 72-63 victory and a return trip to the state tournament in Austin. SOC (28-7) will play this week for back-to-back state titles.

"I didn't want to go home early," Arthur said.

SOC coach James Mays II said Arthur's performance was as good as his MVP showing in last season's state title game, when he had 22 points and 17 rebounds.

SOC dominated the boards, and its guards got the ball to Arthur and 6-7 Ronnie Morgan (16 points) inside, making the most of SOC's height advantage.

Seagoville (32-4) came up one victory short of state for the third straight season. Seagoville senior guard Donald Sloan scored 29 points, but 22 of them came in the fourth quarter, when SOC had already seized control.

After the game, SOC players mugged for cameras and danced, while Seagoville players bit their lips and covered their faces with their shirts.

"I'm proud of them," Seagoville coach Robert Allen said. "We just have to keep working."

Seagoville led by two at the half, but SOC outscored Seagoville 21-10 in the third. Arthur had 12 points in the quarter, coming in a variety of ways – off steals, baseline jumpers and putbacks inside.

When Sloan, who struggled offensively until the fourth, started taking over, it was too late and Seagoville couldn't stop SOC.

"Sloan is one of the greatest players I've ever coached against," Mays said.

Sloan's fellow Texas A&M signee, Derrick Roland, had 10 points for Seagoville but none in the second half. Brandon Ware scored 15 for Seagoville.

SOC, much like last season, hasn't always looked capable of winning the state title. It struggled at times, including two losses against Seagoville.

But Mays and Arthur said the team has come together in time to try for back-to-back titles.

"We expected this," Mays said. "We're in territory now that not too many teams have been in. We realize what's in front of us."

Arthur said he would like to top what he did at last season's state tournament and on Saturday.

"I have better games left in me," he said.

because, IMO, when you make an unfounded accusation against a program/coach, especially when you know nothing about the coach and how he runs his program - - thats dumb
