They are on the Encore Westerns Channel and should not be missed. One starts at 7P.M. and is The Alamo with Dennis Quaid and Billy Bob Thornton and was made about 2 years ago and was co-produced by Ron Howard (Opie on Andy Griffith Show). This is a great movie and should not be missed.
Right after this movie on the same channel is God's Gun starring Lee Van Cleef, Jack Palance, Richard Boone and Leif Garrett starting at 9:20 P.m. This is a great movie made in 1976. Van Cleef plays twin brothers - one a priest and the other a gunfighter who has given up his gunfighting and retired to Mexico per his brothers influence. He is great in both parts. Jack Palance plays the villian and he is good indeed as he and his men take over a town to rob and bully while waiting for a gold shipment to come to town. Richard Boone is not in the movie very much but he does a good job in the role of a drunken sherriff who redeems himself and Leif Garrett is the young boy positively influenced by the priest (He later became a teen idol in the late 70s and early 80s). Palance's son Cody plays his nephew who is one of the members of Palance's gang. A good movie indeed.

Also TCM showed the 1960 John Wayne version of The Alamo and if you haven't seen it in 15 years this version is to be seen. Most of the version shown in theatres in 1960 and on tv or videos until the mid 90s was an edited type version but this one on TCM shows all of the uncut version of the movie and is worth seeing if you haven' seen this version. I am not sure when TCM will show it again but they do show it regularly so keep an eye out for it. A great movie indeed!

Also another movie made in 1958 in black and white will be shown on the same channel on Thursday March 9 at 3:15 P.M. called Ambush at Cimarron Pass starring Scott Brady. Unlike the other movies this is in black and white which is a shame but still a good movie. The main interest is that Clint Eastwood is in it and even though he isn't the main star he has important part in it and was made before he became a big tv and movie star.
