Many of the 4A's who dropped to 3A have not played well thus far..

Borger 1-3
Canyon 1-2
Pecos 1-2
Snyder 0-3
Dallas Madison 0-3
Paris N Lamar 0-3
Tyler Chapel Hill 0-4
Navasota 0-3

The only real exceptions thus far are Jasper of course and Carthage who seems to be playing better after an 0-2 start they are now 2-2...

Matt, That is a very interesting observation! I don't have time to search it out right now, but I know that in the last two years, the drop downs tended to play against their old 4A rivals in preseason. It seems that they have to kind of shuffle around to find preseason games. I look for some of these bigger enrollment schools to assert more influence later. They just have a larger source of players of quality to sub in-as their best get hobbled by injury. Let's watch it close and see how this all plays out by mid-season.....If they played today, I think that they would lose to some lower enrollments; however, five games from now the depth factor might turn the tables for the 4A drop-downs. The road to the upper levels of the brackets is paved with depth-building, going on right now-it's a marathon, not a 200m dash.

True the teams that dropped have played some 4A's....but to be honest most of the games haven't been close...this just reinforces my theory that the difference between 3A and 4A isn't as big as it is made out to be..hwoever I do see some of the drop-downs rebounding...I don't see N Lamar, or Canyon getting much better though..I think they'll miss the playoffs

I think most of teams in the 3a top 10 can be competitive with a top 10 4a team. Newton has been doing it for years.

Carthage started off 0-2, but they have pulled together and started playing well. They are now 2-2. I look for them to do better than the past couple of years.
