I am traveling to houston in a week and will be staying near the reliant stadium area. Does anyone have any ideas concerning places to eat in the area? I like just about any type of food but am partial to seafood, cajun food and steak. Price range is not a big deal as long as the food is good. I don't want to have to dress up to eat though. Will be in jeans and a shirt. Any help would be appreciated.....us west texas folks need all the help that we can get in the big city!!!

There's a Pappadeaux right across 610 from Reliant Park. The seafood is decent but you get big protions. It's between Main and Kirby on the eastbound 610 feeder.

Cuco's Mexican cafe on 249 going towards tomball, Carls bbq on 290 near cy-fair high school, but you shouldn't have a problem finding a good place in Houston.

Cuco's is about a half a mile form my house. I can vouch for - it's pretty good. Quite a trek from Reliant though. I'll do a little more looking. That's like driving to Dallas from where I live.

If you feel like taking a 10-15 minute drive heading north on Kirby Dr. (Kirby goes right past Reliant Stadium) there is a place called Goode BBQ that is one of the best in town in my opinion.

Oh yeah..Goode Co. BBQ. It's on Kirby just before 59. Awesome! There's also a Goode Co. Seafood on Westpark. When you get to Westpark and Kirby take a left on Westpark and it's not too far ahead on the left.

Both the Goodes and the Pappas places are good bets.

Another good steak place that is relatively close to to you is a place called Bonnie's Seafood and Steak on I-45.

Waht you do to get there is get on the 610 Loop heading East toward I-45. Take I-45 North for a brief time, but take the first exit after getting on 45. Stay on the Access road. Another place right next door is Pappa's Seafood.

There is a red lobster if you like to eat at chains. :hand: Smith & Wolensky's is not bad over by the Galleria. We ate at Bonnie's last saturday and have some GOOD GRUB. Come over on the east side and eat at the orginal Ninfas. Make you throw rocks at your dog. :nerd:

Saltgrass is good and if I remember correctly, there may be one within walking distance of Reliant.

If not, there is one just down the road in a complex call Meyerland Plaza.

Let's just say some of the employees aren't state certified in areas. And there isn't a lot of instruction from management to get certified. I wouldn't trust the food.

Take the plunge and go over to Flemmings, Ruth Crisp, or Grotto's.

When you have Lowake Steak House just west of you, you don't need choices.;)

Here's a link, BTW.:

Oh shoot, Vet93, I forgot the best one. If you go thru Austin into to Houston on 290, just NW of Brenham is a little town called Somerville. There is a place called the Country Inn there that rivals Lowake big time.;)

Excellent choice! Try the blackened Oppolusas catfish plate if they still offer that. Very good.

If you're looking for a novelty place, go to Freebirds. It's like a Subway for burritos. It's really good! I can't remember where it's located though.

Fogo De Chao

If you are a meat hound, no place puts on the table like this place! I went a few days before the Super Bowl that was held in Houston (a coulple of years ago) and they had fed one of the super bowl teams the night before. It is one of those places you have to try, but is way to $$$ to eat at very ofton. About $50.00 plus drinks. I would not waste mutch on drinks with the load of food you get.
