All I know is my 3rd grader has been all worked up about taking that test. I think the teachers make such a big deal about the TAKS that it causes kids a little anxiety.

they take so many practice taks tests and Taks field tests that they are burned out when it actually comes time for the real TAKS

Teachers make a big deal, because campus principals make a big deal...principals make a big deal because district administrators make a big deal....administrators make a big deal because the state of Texas makes a big deal....The State of Texas makes a big deal because of the Federal No Child Left Behind requirements

hence, it is a big deal....too much pressure on 3rd graders though. My biggest nightmare when I was younger was not being allowed to go to the next grade (even if I had all A's on my report card - or to show my age all check pluses) Imagine the stress of one test determining if you go on

Not only is my 3rd grader worked up but my wife is a nervous wreck too. She made bacon and eggs and pancakes for breakfast so my son would have a great breakfast. I thought about telling her I had to take the Taks test tomorrow...

That's the advantage of being "an old fart" Didn't have to take TAKS or TAAS or anything like that to graduate........ We did have to take those darned "Achievement Test" anyone remember those? How about SRA Reading or Controlled Reading and the different color levels?
