I'm already looking for a game to go to
during our bye week. The last two years
I went to Snyder and Wylie to watch them
play during our week off.

I guess look for a good 3A game for Nov. 3rd. I wouldn't mind if it was Snyder vs.
Midland Greenwood. I'd drive either place.

Looks like a tough pre-district.
Hopefully, I'll be able to attend one of the first four games.

That would work for me. I bet we dont get that lucky though. I think both of their schedules are on here somewhere. In fact, I think I have seen them both, but I dont think they were official yet.

I appreciate the invite Hop. But I guess I had better save up my gas money for this weekend. Me and the ole lady are going down to San Marcos to visit our daughter. Actually, we are meeing her in San Antonio, and will spend Friday and Saturday night down there.

You need to make a trip up next week, we have 3 games and the last two should be good ones. We are in the hunt and it would be the best $1.00 you ever spent.

A buck is a bargain all right. I may just have to do that. I make my way over there from time to time for chinese food out at the place on the south side of town. Its pretty good food. Our chinese food joint in Sweetwater sucks big time. We are planning on going over in a week or two.

If these are home and home agreements, travel next year will be a bear. Hereford, Amarillo, and Canyon.

Same for us. Next year, @ Canyon, Borger,
and Breckenridge and possibly Brownwood
again. I think Decatur gave up a home game
to play us in the Gordon Wood Classic.
We'll probably do the same in two years
to play them there again.

The OPEN week falls in week 09 again this go round. It seems like this is a good time to be open. It gives time to heal if needed and still have a important game before the playoffs begin.

What happens in the 2007 year for the games that are played at the "Classics?" Will Sweetwater play Decatur and Brownwood again, or will they flip flop opponents? Would Sweetwater play Marlin and Snyder play Decatur in 07 @ Brownwood?

GetRDoneStangs
02-14-2006, 06:58 AM
We will play Brownwood in the Gordon Wood in 2007. The game location of the Decatur 2007 game was not set as of last week. Hopefully, they will come and play in the Sammy Baugh and not meet in a neutral site.

oh well
02-14-2006, 08:48 AM
Snyder will still play Marlin it will be in Brownwood again just not the Gordon Wood Classic. The Classic move to the week before

STANG RED
02-14-2006, 08:53 AM
Setting different games up every year for these classics have to be pretty tricky, since most teams want one home, and one away game when scheduling opponents every two years.

Have you seen your Dist? Clyde will be very good this year they almost won last year. Wylie well you know how good they are. Breckenridge very good. I would get out of Dist before I talk playoffs

We're not too worried about next season. We will be pretty loaded with talented seniors. It's the following year that is a big question mark at this point.

It is a "fun" challange. The Sammy Baugh filled up fast this year and in fact I was contacted by teams that we could not fit in. I am hoping we can fill the 2007 schedule pretty soon. The Classics are a neat deal and as the word spreads more teams will want to take part. I am still getting the logo for the 2006 Sammy Baugh finalized and will get it out with the full schedule then.

Anybody know which one of our games is
going to be homecoming? My guess is
Canyon or Borger. Either way, no
cup-cake this year

I'll bet it is Borger. But I am only guessing.

I plan on starting a new thread real soon, I was trying to set a 5th game to be played on Saturday morning. We are looking at trying to get a rematch of the Youth Football League Super Bowl teams (Was it the Mighty Mites?) that Sweetwater won.

It might be a little tough getting all those little kids back together again. Some of them will probably be moved up to the next age group by next season.
I wish there were some way of doing a six man game that Saturday morning. I suppose temporary, moveable goles could be constructed, and the field could be chalk marked, but that would be a huge hassel. It is a thought though.

GetRDoneStangs
02-14-2006, 02:49 PM
We have talked about it, we may have to set it up for the Thursday game so we can get the field cleared by Friday night.

It will be something to look into for future Classics.
