He has been involved in quite a few scandals with recruiting since he has been there it is proabely the best move. However Melvin Watkins might not of been the best choice he hasn't exactly lighted it up in the big 12 over the years.

What took so long? Proof that not everything Coach K touches turns to gold.

It's not like they can actually hire a head coach halfway into the season.

Melvin is the only one on that staff who had prior HC experience. What else would you have done? It's what anyone does when a HC steps down in the middle of the season; the Associate HC takes his place.

Now after the season is done, that's a different story. I'm hearing Rick Majerus, Steve Lavin, John Beiline, the Northern Iowa coach, the UAB coach, and Calipari. The only upside with Calipari leaving for Mizzou is a big time conference. Other than that, he's built up the program at Memphis.

That Northern Iowa coach is going to be a great pickup for someone, whether Mizzou gets lucky enough to pick him up or someone else winds up with him. His character is actually more impressive than his coaching resume. Makes his kids work hard and gives just as much back to them. That guy demands excellence.

Could you imagine what he'd be able to do with a big-time college program and big-time college budget? With UNI he's had back to back trips to the NCAA and a third, apparently, on the way. He's really put that program on the map. That's more than Texas A&M and their multi-million dollar athletic empire can say.

The MVC is a solid mid-major this year...they'll snag an upset or two in March.
