I'm hoping to see Dee Walker will get some playing time this season.

Rice's Non-Conference Schedule would be tough for any team:
@ UCLA
Texas at Reliant
@ Florida State
@ Army
And then Conference which includes four bowl teams

OUCH! I just hope they have a few players left standing, when conference rolls around.

That's at least 2 D1's for Sam Houston, Texas and SMU.

I agree. It is going to be tough for him. He told my son that they have 11 or 12 running backs.

it is actually kind of sad...since the professors didnt get their way to either drop football or drop to D2 then they r using the program as a sacraficial lamb to get money....Rice football was good at one time, they probably would have a lot of trouble being "good" at this day in time but they could atleast be decent and go to bowls most of the time with all the talent to draw from in all of Texas...its hard to get in to Rice but surely with the amount of football players we have in texas and other southern states, they could get some that could play.....they just have a lotta troulbe at that school w/ profesors and such that dont see the potential athletics have to bring income to the school i guess, or they r just those type of people who believe that sports r entertainment for those people who are not educated (yes they exist)....

Unfortunately, current blend of people on the Board of Trustees as well as the faculty Senate is not positive toward the football program because they aregue that the athletes aren't smart enough (although football has better scores occurding to the NCAA standards than multiple programs including Mens and Women Basketball and Baseball) and the AD schedules money games since the team missed a bowl game after going 8-4 in 2001, because of a "weak schedule"
