UT leads by a large amount, and A&M only scores points in womens sports...

I guess because UT fans like to see them rip up the "low" teams in the showdown.

i doubt the baseball very highly... and it isnt intended to be a knock on A&M with this thread... but i just dont get what the point of it is....

i have faith in the baseball team, they picked up alot of good players last year, including a big stick from TCU in Spencer Jackson

The reason this was established can be found at the site below. When you get there click on about the competition. State Farm provides financial support at both schools and both schools have blessed the showdown competition. Yes, money is involved.

They'll have their up years and their down years. UT athletics are going through boon years right now. I don't know of many programs in the country that could compete with them, but give it another few years and we might be saying the opposite.

Basically, the whole thing revolves around the rivalry and the pub that these schools can capitalize off of. The Showdown generates more interest for the often-overlooked teams like the diving, women's hoops and softball teams. Not a bad deal for either school, really.
