Two Fort Worth schools reassigned to 6-4A
Fort Worth North Side and Fort Worth Western Hills have been reassigned to District 6-4A in all sports except for football, the University Interscholastic League announced Tuesday.
The UIL acknowledged making an error by assigning all 11 Fort Worth ISD schools to District 7-4A. UIL guidelines state that districts are capped at 10 schools unless there is an extreme travel hardship, UIL spokeswoman Kim Rogers said.
Fort Worth ISD officials requested that 7-4A remain an 11-team district for football. Fort Worth ISD athletic director Herb Stephens said that decision was made in part because of scheduling.
Stephens traveled to Austin on Monday to request a change be made in the Fort Worth ISD schools’ district assignments. He said the Fort Worth ISD accepted the changes.
