Senior QB Chris Brown of Gainesville could be on the list, he had 1056 yards passing 12 TDs only 3 ints. on a Run heavy team... he also had almost 400 yards rushing and 5 rushing TDs to add to it..

There's several players i'm going to mention here.

Sr - WR/DB/PR/KR Misael Iracheta - Versatile and speedy, had 3 INT returns for touchdowns including a spectacular 90yd INT return vs. Lyford, and a punt return for a TD in 2002. Possession type receiver with good hands, good blocking skills, and can run reverses well.

Sr - WR/PR/KR Joe Arevalo - Another versatile player with good speed. Returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns in 2002, and also had a punt return for a TD. Can catch the deep ball, blocks well, and also runs reverses well. Arevalo, in a game vs. 4A Los Fresnos took a reverse and scampered 81 yards for a TD leaving defenders in the dust.

Sr - QB Gabe Alvarez - Option style QB, good speed, very elusive runner. Ok throwing arm. Rushed for 600 yards, and threw for 600. Had 4 rushing TDs, and threw 9 TD passes.

Jr - RB/LB Johnny Nieto - A good combination of speed and power, ran for over 800 yards as a sophomore out of the FB position in 2002. Will most likely become Port Isabel's featured RB to replace 32-3A district MVP Joey Loera.

Jr - MLB Frank Herrera - Hard hitting LB, was leading tackler for Port Isabel in 2002 as a sophomore. Another good combination of speed and power in this kid.

Jr - WR/P Orlando Ochoa - Was a 2nd team all state selection punter as a sophomore. Will be tried at WR to utilize his height. He is now 6'2. His punts are high and deep, and is very good at pinning the opposition deep in their own end.

Also, there was a FB that transferred into Port Isbel from 5A Houston Yates (if I have my info correct) I know the last name is Woods, not sure of first name, but he was an all district selection for FB last year as a junior and will be Port Isabel's FB next season. 5'10, 220, and quick for his size.

John Clark, QB Celina, has potential.

Emanuel Chambers RB Crandall. Last year ran for 725 yards on 102 carries, had a hurt ankle last year that kinda slowed him down but should be at 100% for the upcoming year.
John Tienert QB Cranldall. Ran for 871 yards on 105 carries and ran for 11 TD's. Runs the option very well.

well Tank smith, Matterial Richardson and D'nerian wrighter should all be players to watch out for on both sides of the Ball if i'm not mistaken all three of these players scored on defense and offense in The four play off games i think these three will be a threat to any temas that plays against them.

RYAN LYMAN AND ROBERT HAUGHIE, SRS. INGLESIDE.

Last year, Lyman played the first half of the season at QB and was Ingleside's only offense whatsoever. BUT, as many as 13 starters were injured at points through the season and Lyman was working without a supporting cast. Most of his teammates were Freshmen or JV players pulled up due to the rash of injuries. The kid can play any skill position on offense, and play them all well. As a senior, Lyman will also line up on defense as one of the better safeties in the district. One of the more exciting players in South Texas, the 5'11" Lyman runs a 4.6 in the 40.

Haughie doesn't get pumped up for games. The 6'2", 280 lb. offensive and defensive lineman simply has a motor that won't stop. Even in practice they have to tell him to let up sometimes. The senior-to-be runs a 5.1 and saw time at tight end last year. Haughie has started on varsity since his sophmore campaign and has put his name on the All-District lists on a yearly basis since being pulled up to varsity. Extremely fast for a man his size, the highly recruited Haughie will make a strong case for the District 30-3A's best lineman, both on offense and defense.

POLITO PALMA, SR. ARANSAS PASS

One of the other top candidates for the district's best linemen, Palma has been a force for the Panthers since his sophomore year. The 6' DE weighs in at roughly 250 and was an All-District selection as both a sophomore and junior. Palma will be an early favorite for the 3A All-State squad as a defensive lineman.

La Grange has two tight ends returning next season as seniors:

Alby Stiffler a 6'1" 240lb TE, is seen here on his way for a 54 yard rumble against Coldspring in round two of the 2002 playoffs.

All District TE Lance Schramm at 6'2" 210lbs, is impressive for his speed and hands, while Stiffler gets the job done blocking. Both are hard to stop when they make the reception. Schramm scored the only TD for the win against a tough Columbus defense in game 1 of the 2002 playoffs, breaking two tackles to go 48 yards for the score. The Leps will keep the linebackers honest next season with Anderle connecting with either of these two guys over the middle or in the flats. That plus their outstanding blocking should really help the Leopard running game.

Jess Buenger, QB, Bellville: District 23 MVP last year, expect him to repeat this year, even with Emeal Andrus in the same district.

Brandt Goeke, WR/K, Bellville: Good speed, decent hands, big target, Buenger's favorite target, should post nice numbers. Has a chance to kick at the next level.

Look out for Midland Greenwood next year!

1. There were 4 Juniors named all- west tx. And theres a lot of potential coming up!

1. Matt Boss 6'3 230 Tackle 4.9
2. Jeremy Audas rushed over 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns
He also runs a 4.4 and bench presses 305 and he only ways 170 He also Returns kicks next year uh oh!(AllWest Tx.)
3. Brian Zachry 6' 180 4.5 Forces the run better than any Stong Saftey in West Texas! (AllWest TX.)
4. Blake Higgins 6'2 210 4.6 This kid will only be a junior. Some people say he'll be better than Cody Hollums(2nd Team all state), he'll take over the middle linebacker spot next year. Tons of potential.
5. Jason Patterson 6' 215 4.8 Quick Gaurd. Has had a Great off season. Really Explosive. (All West Tx.)
6.Ulysses Reynosa and James Bowen. The Defensive Tackles. These guys are both over 220 and run 4.9 in the forty. I dont think there will be much running between the tackles next year!
7.Then theres Dawson WIlber the Q.B./Kicker/Punter/Linebacker. This kid rushed for almost 1,400 yds and 24 TD's and threw for 1,100 yards. 5'11' 200 4.5 (All-west Tx 3A M.V.P) Ya'll Have Fun!

Bridge City has no stars this coming season, but with teamwork they may well get their 3 round customary average advance in the playoffs. They have a lot of excellent younger players but are a year away.

Wildstangs, Dont worry, your heart will be fine because Audas isnt moving anywhere. I have even better news for ya, Audas doesnt play baseball so should we meet in the play-offs you wouldn't have to worry about him. However you would have to face Dawson Wilber one more time and a couple kids who were on the basketball team as well.

To PPHS: I was talking about the three years in 3A. First year they went 2 rounds: lost the second game because our QB made a great fake and went into the endzone with the football. A ref blew the play dead thinking a tackled guy had the ball...Second year they went four rounds. This year they went 3 rounds, losing to a very good Jasper team...It will be interesting how Pilot Point does in their first three years of 3A ball, now that they are not one of the biggest enrollment schools in 2A.....I know it was tough on BC for many years being one of the very smallest 4A'S in Texas, in the same conditions. I hope you can build a good tradition in 3A, but the odds are that you will just be a mediocere program over the years, now that you are not the biggest enrollment school in your classification.

04-21-2003, 05:14 PM
Rholl...I agree...you have to play with the hand that is dealt you. There is no use in complaining about it because it won't help anything. However, statistics show that there is a tremendous advantage to having one of the larger enrollments. Especially in our classification, because it has the largest percent difference between large schools and small schools. That doesn't mean that a small school can't be very good...it just means that they may have a little more difficult time competing consistently at a higher level. Just my $.02.

How about Micheal "The Moose" Gauthier. He will be coming back next year. Maybe Coach Tarver can convince Cody Sparks to come in as running back. He won the 110 hurdles at the District meet. wink

What about Chris Smith from Navasota? Over 1400 yards last year as a soph. Or Markeith Wesley the soph. OL from last year that went to state in powerlifting. All district QB Scott Martin, also a soph last year. LB William Mock, 139 tackles last year. The list goes on and on.

RETURNING PLAYER'S

QB Marquis Hall
QB/Wr/DB Dustin Bell

RB/LB Jon Carter

'76's Mom, Cody Sparks will be another great Sophomore on the squad next year. That undefeated 9th grade, with that big swift backfield, will bring a team up as Soph.'s that could beat a lot of teams. In fact, they could have beaten a lot of varsity teams last year...Like I say, we are a year away. We have four great QB's to choose from. Running backs, Jon Landry and Michael"The Moose"Gauthier are the two fastest kids in the county and also the 21-3A District. It is very easy for even good younger players to make mistakes, and that's why I can see it possibly being BC 0 Opponents 3 in the preseason openers. But they will have their day in the sun, on down the way.

A lot of people aren't impressed with Chris Simms either yet last year Texas was 11 - 2. That means it was a 10+ season. There are a lot of college teams that would love to have had it.
