The Dallas Mavericks try to push their winning streak to an NBA-best 12 games and move into sole possession of first place in the Southwest Division when they take on the slumping Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, Texas teams have been doing their share of winning. San Antonio has won 6 games in a row and the Houston Rockets have a 4 game winning streak. Lately, the Spurs have been doing it on the road, with their stadium being used for the rodeo. Houston has welcomed back Yao Ming and are now 13-6 with him playing with T-Mac. The Lakers have slumped to the #8 positon. Utah is now in the 9th position, just 1 game behind the Lakers. The Lakers will do a "Texas two-step" playing Dallas tonight and then going to Houston on wednesday.

Fantastic! I am a Spurs fan first but if they can't make it I will be happy if the Mavs or Rockets do the job.

Spurs and Mavericks have the 2 best records in the Western Conference. The problem is that who ever finishes second will become the #4 seed. Currently, Denver leads the Northwest division with a 26-24 record. They would be given the #3 seed and the Pacific leader Phoenix (31-17) would have the #2 seed. Not very fair to Dallas or San Antonio, because one of them will probably have the 2nd best record and be placed in the 4th position.
