No. 1 Baseball loses 12-8 series finale to San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Although the Longhorns' offense continued to battle back over the final five innings, it could not overcome a seven-run fifth by the Toreros as No. 1 Texas lost a 12-8 decision to San Diego in front of 1,200 fans at Cunningham Stadium during the finale of a three-game series on Sunday, Feb. 5.

While the loss dropped the Horns record to 0-3 on the year, marking their first 0-3 season start since 2001, USD improved to 3-0 on the new campaign by earning a series sweep.

sicem baylor had trouble w/ teams early last year as well....lets not laugh yet as we havent started our season and are very inexperienced....not to mention baylor last year was horrible against "midweek opponents" as they say in college baseball....the "no-names" we played midweek constituted a lot if not most of our losses, the horns will be a force later in the season they just have a young team like the bears....honestly i think they were over rated to start the season but we will see what happens as the season goes along and they gel as a team....

Just thought I might mention that Joesph Krebs, #46, a Bridgeport High grad and former all-state WR, is on the 'Horns roster.

I think the 'Horns will "pick up" their pace as the season progresses.

That puts Rice as number one at rosenblattreport.com.

Anyone in Houston should come out to Minute Maid this weekend for the Minute Maid College Classic with Texas, Texas Tech and TCU playing Rice, Houston and Tulane.
Schedule can be found at riceowls.com

that's great, looks like the football luck hasn't rubbed of on the baseball team yet, but VY was their whole football team so put him on the diamond and i sure they will finally find some luck
so until next time brothers.........

You're right, Chief....the harder those ol' 'Horns players work...the luckier they seem to get. :D

I had no idea that they were off to a rough start. It is still very early and I know that they will find a way to turn in around.
