Well whats you're price range and i can give you a good idea for what you'd want.

I play alot of SOAD, White Stripes, Green Day on a Gibson Sg re-issue, i use just a few FX peddles but their just for special occassions, the amp however i use my old first act amp that came w/my ghetto first act guitar.

I need a new one...lol

Can't go wrong with an epiphone(Gibson for cheap). But Ibanez and ESP have some good rock guitars and good prices. Effects pedals your gonna hae to pay a pretty penny for unless you go to a pawn shop or some thing. Most of the multi efects boards will run you $150 and up. If your playing everything in Drop D I would get a decent amp with effects and a good overdrive pedal for about $70 bucks. The spider II is a decent amp especially if your not looking to spend a ton.

I play an Ibanez (acoustic and electric) on an old peavy amp. I have an all in one Behringer effects system and 2 pedals. Overdrive and Wah.

take a look at this guitar, reasonable price and 45 day money back if you dont like it. since you like playing hard rock this would work fine.

I think that the Epi-SG mentioned in the above post would fit your budget and types of music very well. Epiphone makes good solid guitars and it should give you all the crunch you want with the link 6 amp.

I just bought a new axe a year ago... it is a Fender Custom TELE le... split coils, thru neck.... you want fat tone it does it, you want crunch, it does it, you want twang, it does it.... I AM IN LOVE.

Here is a pic...

I myself am fixing to upgrade the amp... I am thinking about a Marshall DFX50C... There is also a new line of Epiphone amps that are retro looking with tweed grills, etc...

KEEP ON ROCKING!

Ibanez are good... I have a samick... don't use it, messed up, my own fault though, not samick's...

ESP? Didn't one of the Metallica guys play an ESP? And the other a Jackson?

Dimebag from Pantera played a Washburn, I believe... used to have a Washburn amp, it was good...
