Thats why I had them included in my house payment. Now it just hurts a little each month, instead of all at once.

I used to do that as well. We finished paying our house off in November. Now we get to see the cost of insurance and taxes up close and personal. OUCH!!!!

I think everyone should have to pay it all at once. That way everyone would be so ticked off that maybe we'd get some property tax relief instead of getting hosed by some RINOs (Republican In Name Only).

You'd think I have a mansion. My property taxes are 50% of my mortgage.

The local school board got rid of our homestead exemption a few years ago. Funny thing is that our school board president couldn't afford the taxes on his own business, so he went bankrupt. What a turd.

property taxes may actually go down next year. with the state finding out that they can't legally collect property taxes for your schools, that might give some relief.

They can't be giving out reimbursements when they passed a 19% budget increase over the next two years.

Did you hear that parents in one school district are being required to purchase a laptop for their elementary age school children?

Guess the state.

Come on, take a guess...

I live in the far SW part of Snyder and was in the bank the other day and heard the tax appraiser telling someone that they were going to redo the appraisals on our part of town because they were much too low. Now that really sucks.

My Taxes and most everyone in cuero's went down about $150.00 dollars. Natural Gas production and Drilling platform's are paying off big time around here.

Well that's not the case in almost every other area of the state. Our appraisals are going up at an average of 9% a year in the greater houston area. It looks nice for the school district to say "We didn't raise taxes". That's a dishonest statement. Taxes went up, you just didn't go up on the rate because you have a built in 9% increase every year.

It's pretty bad when the chief appraiser (Sugarland or Fort Bend - I can't remember which right now) met with the local superintendent who told him that the school district was counting on a 10% increase in property taxes. That chief appraiser went back and told his other appraisers that "We need to take into consideration the needs of our taxing entities when determining the values of our homes".

Hey! Here's an idea. How about appraising the value of homes on what they SHOULD be valued at, not based on the needs of the school district.:foul: :foul: :foul:

Good point! As a taxpayer, you have the right once a year to appeal the appraisal district's value...BUT...you would have to pay about $350.00 to get an appraisal from a certified appraiser to go fight them with. And then who knows what the odds are of having them re-assess your value and actually lower it.
