Congrats Bulls! That was an awesome game tonight... Both teams played one that came down literally to the last 30 seconds. Good job to both teams and a BIG hearty congratulations to those Bridgeport Bulls... Champions of District 7-3A!

BTW, an observation... The last several HS basketball games I have watched the Refs have let the kids play... I mean PLAY. It makes for a pretty rough game that gets frustrating all the way around. Is this a regional thing or is it the way the game is played. Just my $.02

Congrats to the Bulls.

Slpy, I would much rather them let the kids play. But that is just my 2 cents.

every game seems different from what i've watched..

here at home they seem to let them play alot, but when we went to Celina and Pottsboro it seemed like they were callin alot of fouls

PPHSfan, Keith7, yeah, I sort of agree with ya. Remember, for me, basketball is just a distraction during offseason. It just seems that the game escalates in intensity to a big scrum under a basket where kids go flying, the coaches are freaking, the fans are ready to flip out and then the refs have to take the time to settle everyone back down...

I enjoy it, but I wonder if I would if I was a parent or coach.

After the bye round, who will Bridgeport play?

The winner of 3rd place in 5-3A vs 2nd place in 6-3A...Region 1 looks to be tough in Hoops come playoff time...Abilene Wylie, Midland Greenwood, Glen Rose, Kennedale, Everman, Canyon all look to be strong contenders

"....I enjoy it, but I wonder if I would if I was a parent or coach...."It would probably depend on whether your kid was six foot five or five foot six. :D

Congrats to the Bulls!

A hard fought contest....That Joiner kid made some outstanding shots. For the Eagles I am happy with second place. Before the season began I thought we would do well just to make the playoffs. Yet, it came down to the final game in district to decide the championship. The Eagles did better this year than I had anticipated...they even beat the Bulls in the first meeting this year. Overall, the district race was quite tight......and the Bulls percivered. Again Congrats.....and Good luck in the playoffs.

As for the refs...I thought they called a great contest for the most part. I agree that they should let the players play....calling fouls for minor physical contact is silly. The only objection I have is that when a player throws an elbow and smashes another players nose....possibly breaking it-- THAT should be a foul. If you do not call those things then the contest gets out of control...players start to take the retribution into their own hands when the refs do not protect the physical well being of the players. Things could have gotten really really ugly. As for the srcum on the floor that got McKinneys face busted...that was just good ole fashioned hustle and effort on the parts of both teams with no malice intended. This was a really fun game to see.

As for the Bulls fan that got escorted out by the Police....second year in a row that a Bulls fan has gotten out of hand and the Bridgeport PD had to kick 'em out. At least this year he didn't leave in handcuffs because he tried to punch the officer. Maybe next year evryone will behave and no one has to get kicked out. That was kind of ugly.

Man... that game was all the talk today. Everyone I visited with says it was one of the best BBall games they had seen... period. If you had no interest in either team you would loved it.

I didn't see the B'port fan get escorted out. Of course, I had to sit behind all of the freaking students who STAND all game and make a crowded situation even worse... no one can use the seats behind them because of the little twerps... It is okay to do that at the football stadium where there are plenty of seats. But Please, sit you butts down when there aren't enough seats in a crowded gym!

I forgot to mention....It was a great pleasure to see SLPYBEAR again. If I would have been smart we could have spent more time chatting. Anyway, good to see you again.

The only basketball game I have ever seen in person that was more exciting was the playoff game between Sacramento and Dallas in OT when Dirk's last second shot rolled around the hoop twice before it popped out...and again my team lost the close one....LOL

I think we play Clyde in the first round. Congrats to the Bulls. Happen to know some folks in Bull country.

As far as the refereeing goes, it depends on the CREW working the game, not the chapter. I referee high school basketball and I can tell you, depending on which guys (or gals) I am working with and how physical the game is will determine the flow of the game and how it should be officiated--whether to call it tight or just let them play.
