They are putting up a 280' tower behind our office, they are now putting on a section that goes from 120 to 200. Watched for about 5 minutes, got so dizzy I couldn't hardly stand up. I don't do heights.

Do you do roller coasters?

Yes, but with those I am strapped in or enclosed. If I am enclosed where I can't fall out I seem to do better. My knees buckle when I watch a movie where they are hanging out in open spaces.

I really don't have a problem with heights, I just have a problem with falling from those heights.

My 19 y/o son is a roughneck...he called me last night and was so excited because he worked his first day as a "derrick man"....which means he got to hang out and work dangling above the rig floor.

This was amazing to me...he is terrified of heights....WILL NOT ride a roller coaster.

But he will jump on the back of a 2000 lb bull.....go figure!!

Man, on a drilling rig, he's hanging out on a 90' derrick plus probably another 30' added for a sub-structure. Gee, at least 120' above mother earth. Not me.:( :(

Getting thrown up in the air would be the least of my worries!

Riding a bull was always one of my "things I would like to do one time", too old and smart to that now.

the fall itself isn't so bad, it's that sudden stop at the bottom that can really get to ya.

I hate heights, I really like rollercoasters, that feeling you get just as you are going over the hump down the fall is quite a rush. However, one time i rode the Texas Giant 4 consecutive times with no break, and that thing is ridiculously rough. Bad decision on my part.

Hehe....I agree! Back in my younger days I wore a bikini top under a tank top to Six Flags....found out REAL quick that more "support" is needed on that ride!!:D

I can do roller coasters but I cant do heights. That tower at Six Flags in Arlington scares the crap out of me.

yeah the tower does me in also... I can go up but its tough to look over the edge...but i think the worst for me is the sky ride or alpine ski lift or what ever they call that thing,,, I know I hate it:(

As a young feller back in the early 70's, I used to spend as much as eight hours a day atop a 1000' communication tower up in the Dallas area. It wasn't bad at all. The tower had three angle iron/expanded metal platforms built out and braced back to the tower with an angle iron railing around each one. One was at 500", one at 750" and one at 1000". It really wasn't bad because I could stand flat-footed and work. It was just like working in a room except you could see through the floor and there were no walls.

Living in the shadow of the Houston Medical district and just South of Downtown has made me much less hesitant at great heights.

I used to climb telephone poles, but nothing higher than 30'. Then as a lineman I woud go about 45-50' feet in a bucket truck.
