Houston is currently 14-26 and dead last in the Western Conference. Tonight's game vs Charlotte will mark the half way point of the season. The injury bug has really hurt this team, but with the return of T-Mac, they are starting to play a lot better. Stromile Swift and Yao Ming are both expected to return soon.

Currently, Utah holds the 8th position with a 21-21 record. Houston trails the Jazz by 6 games. Houston just recently played their worst 2 basketball games of the season, losing 94-83 to Atlanta and then getting blown out by Dallas 103-76. T-Mac returned last friday to help defeat Chicago. Next, Houston played NBA's best team (Detroit) to the wire, but lost 99-97. Monday they defeated the Bucks 97-80. T-Mac has averaged right at 40 points since his return.

Houston would have to win about 28-30 of the remaining 42 games to have any shot at making the playoffs. With a healthy T-Mac and and the return of Yao, Houston would have a slim chance. Any injury to T-Mac would destroy that slim chance.

Rockets defeat Charlotte and move to within 5 games of the 8th spot. Current #8 Utah is now under .500 and has their next 2 games against Dallas and San Antonio. Houston would also have to jump several other teams such as NO, Minn, GS, Sac and Seattle. This will make the task of making the playoffs that much harder! Rockets are counting on their fellow Texas teams to knock off some of these teams, starting with Dallas vs Seattle tonight.

One note: Houston has loss all 14 games that T-Mac has not played or not finished. With him healthy and 41 games to go, making up 5 games is not impossible.

Rockets went 29-12 during the 2nd half of last year's season. The Astros have had 2 great comebacks themselves, so Houston fans know it can be done. You gotta believe!!

Wrong, Houston is 0-13 without T-Mac and 0-14 when he doesn't finish the game.
