Former Texas HS Coaches Who Coach(ed) In College or Pro?

Which college and pro coaches, past and present, were/are former Texas HS head coaches?

- Everybody's favorite Gregg Davis, OC @ Texas, was once the head coach @ PNG (1975-77) and lead them to the 4A Title in 1975.

Tom Wilson and Emory Bellard (Inventor of the wishbone) finished up as HS coaches.

I think Bum had a stint at Ingleside, maybe not as HC??

Buddy Ryan was head coach at Gainesville

Todd Graham, the new Rice coach, spent 6 seasons as the head coach and AD at Allen High School

Wade Phillips was passed over as the head coach at WOS at one time.

Phillips had some great teams at Nederland. I was too young to remember but my home town (Freer) played Nederland in the quarterfinals in 1954 and we were supposed to lose but we tied them 28 to 28 but they went by penatrations to determined who advanced and we got to advance to the semis by having one (5 to 4) more penatration. That was the year that we tied with Robstown and Falfurrias in district and our district was supposedly weak but we showed we were better than was thought. We won the 3 way coin flip to advance because that was how it was determined then and only one team per district could advance.

i know a guy in wharton that coached in OK before moving to texas.

Briles was an assistant coach at Sweetwater in the early 1980s.

Briles, Brownwood's Freeman, and Abilene High's coach all coached together at Sweetwater in the 80's. Kendal Briles and Kirby Freeman on the same team at Sweetwater???? WOW

Spike Dykes was coached in Midland. He applied at Snyder a couple of times and didn't get hired. After being hired at Tech Spike was talking at a press conference and said something like
"Since I couldn't get hired in Snyder I had to come to work for Texas Tech.

he was there around 1960 or sometime right after that. i think it was just for 1 year.
