Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game one time....he was literally a man among boys when he did that....Kobe was the first to break Chamberlain's stranglehold of the top 3 games since Thompson tied him in '78 for the number 3 spot...

from NBA.com

when wilt scored 100 the game was much different, don't get me wrong, its still a HUGE acomplishment, but:

1) Wilt was 7 foot and everyone else was 6' 2'' & 6' 3''.

2) the paint was smaller, he could stand outside the paint, get the ball, and just set it in over his defender's head without ever setting foot in the paint (no chance of 3 seconds)

kobe is a great scorer, but i still don't think the lakers will be winning any championships with just him.

I've never been a big Kobe fan, but Holy Crap, in this day and age, that is just unbelieveable! I believe Kobe is playing against far superior players today, than what Wilt ever played against, which makes this even more impressive. Hats off to Kobe, even if I cant stand him.

A triple-double average for the season!

Here we go:

66 shots -- 46 field goal attempts and 20 free throw attempts. Of those FGAs, 28 found the net (60.9 percent), including seven of his 13 3-pointers. Eighteen of 20 free throws followed suit. (Yes, Kobe's free throw streak ended -- at 62.)

It's this -- 2 2 2 2 2 1 1 1 1 3 2 2 1 2 2 2 2 2 3 3 3 2 1 3 2 2 2 1 1 2 2 2 1 1 1 3 3 2 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 1.

I believe he has a long way to go before he is even in the same time zone as MJ. Kobe will never accomplish what Michael did.

Purely athletically, he MIGHT (BIG MIGHT) be as talented as Jordan. But that is where it stops. Character, intelect, sportsmanship, etc etc etc....................., he has a loooooooong way to go.
But I will say this. It took Jordan several years to realize he couldnt do it all on his own. When he finally became the great all around player & teammate that he did, he finally realized his full potential and greatness. Kobe is still very young, who knows, maybe he will come to all the same realizations some day. If he does, watch out MJ. If not, he just becomes another pretender.

He has been in the league for ten years MJ has already won 3 championships on his own and retired at that point.

Yes, but MJ had the advantage of playing in one of the best college programs of the time and under one of the best college coaches. There is no substitute for that. Kobe would have benefited greatly from the same type of experience MJ recieved in college. And that, is probably why he will never achieve his full potential, as MJ did.

LeBron will be better than Kobe.
