I haven't seen this posted yet so I thought I would put it up. The biggest shocker to me...nobody from Abilene Cooper made the team unless I overlooked them! I didn't see any Snyder guys either. Also, none of Sweetwater's skill players are on the list

All-Big Country Super Team list
January 22, 2006

Danny Davis, Throckmorton

Coach of the Year

A year after being moved from 11-man to six-man football, won the 2005 UIL six-man state title in what is essentially a whole new ballgame for the coach. Over two seasons in six-man, Davis' Greyhounds have gone 28-1.

Jevan Snead

MVP, Sr., Stephenville

Like any team player, Stephenville quarterback Jevan Snead seems ready to do whatever it takes to win a football game.

Nowhere was that more apparent than when the Yellow Jackets faced Azle in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The Hornets decided to lay back and make Snead — who’d thrown for nearly 3,000 yards in 11 games — beat them with his feet.

So he promptly rushed for five touchdowns and 121 yards on 12 carries.

In all, Snead accounted for more than 4,500 yards and 63 touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets in 2005, earning MVP honors for the Abilene Reporter-News 2005 All-Big Country Super Team.

Case Keenum, Sr., Wylie

Offensive Player of the Year

Great players put the team on their shoulders. While Keenum may have won a state title as a junior, it was 2005 - his senior season - where he carried his team. An All-Big Country standout in 2004, Keenum added 700 yards to his total from that championship year.

Overall, Keenum led Wylie with nearly 3,500 yards of total offense and either rushed or passed for 38 touchdowns - that's 17.5 points in each of Wylie's 13 games.

Julian Saavedra, Sr., Roscoe

Defensive Player of the Year

Most won't admit it, but some high school coaches have been known to pad defensive statistics - particularly the number of tackles - for their players. After all, shouldn't everyone on the pile get an assist?

But no one padded Saavedra's stats: They didn't need to. The Roscoe defensive end notched 80 solo tackles. Add to that 12.5 sacks and a part in a handful of turnovers, and you have the recipe for a great defender.

Austin Buzzard, Sr., Coleman

Newcomer of the Year

Being the new guy is never easy, but Buzzard made the most of his senior season at Coleman High School, not so much with numbers, but with leadership on the field as the Bluecats made a run into the playoffs not seen in Coleman since Harry S. Truman's first term in the White House.

Still the stats are impressive: He combined for 1,607 total yards and 22 touchdowns rushing and passing. Not bad for the new guy in town.

Selection Process

The Abilene Reporter-News sports staff solicits nominations from area Big Country football coaches. Those nominees are then evaluated based upon regular-season and playoff statistics, and intangibles based upon game performance as witnessed by the staff and importance of each nominee’s contribution to his team’s success.

Super Team players are picked based on their selection to a particular class’ first team and/or their overall performance during the season.

This list is BS. Between Snyder and Swater there are 5 or 6 names that really should be on it.

Haha and suffer the blow of being one of those crap teams, lol no way. I think we'd rather just be good and not get mentions then get mentions and not be as good. Its not a fair trade off lol.
