Texas, Nebraska and Oregon State each had three pitchers named to the 2006 Roger Clemens Award Watch List, which was released Friday.
Sinton's Adrian Alaniz was joined by Longhorns teammates Scott McCullough and Kenn Kasperak on the list of 40 pitchers who will be eligible for the award, which is given to the nation’s top college pitcher.
Alaniz, after redshirting his first season, went 8-3 with a 2.67 ERA and tied for the team lead in complete games with two. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder struck out 94 batters in 108 innings. He is expected to again be a member of the Longhorns' starting rotation.
Nebraska starters Joba Chamberlain, Johnny Dorn and closer Brett Jensen, along with Missouri right-hander Max Scherzer, were on the list to give the Big 12 seven members.
The award will be presented to the winner at a dinner in Houston in July.
