Bin Laden's "truce" I'm sure is about rebuilding their terror camps in those affected territories.

After getting whipped by Germany in two World Wars with the USA and Great Britain saving them and then getting kicked out of Viet Nam in the 50s and Napolean getting whipped at Waterloo, being criticized with there terrorist policies, etc., the French are obviously tired of being pushed around and are going to do something about it.
