Corpus Christi Tony Roma's closes it's doors wednesday.
The "Famous for Ribs" restaurant is the most recent of several local restaurants to shut down since the New Year. Crystal's Bar and Confectionery, Harvey's Barn Door Sports Bar, The Black-eyed Pea and Gaetano's Ristorante have closed indefinitely since Jan. 1.

i guess the fact im dieting and i have stopped going out to eat has really taken a toll on Corpus Christi restaurants :(

I can't believe Tony Romas did not renew their lease. That was some good eating. All I know is that we better not lose the Olive Garden, Macarroni Grill, Hooters, Chilis, or the Whataburger on Ocean Drive.

it would not kill me if OG, Hooters or chilis closed down. IMO just a waste of real estate

The misses and I love the OG to death. I like to take my sons to Hooters because I love to watch my 3yo flirt with the wait staff.....he's really good, too. Oh, and I forgot to mention K-Bobs. I would go crazy without their chicken fried steak and salad wagon.

Speaking of chicken fried steak, is Freddy's still open in Sinton? My family and I went by twice now early in the evening and they have been closed.

Bad service, uncooked food, long waits, dirty plates/utensils,...it just sounded like you had a beef with several restaurants and I figured something had to have happened at each one.

i dont have to have a beef with restaurants to have an opinion. most the times i just place them low on my list of places i prefer to spend money at.
ive had bad service once at Mama Mia's, yet its my favorite place in the world to eat. i've had uncooked food at TGIFridays, but i dont mind eating there every once in a while. Dirty plates and utensils at a local Sinton eatery, but its one of my favorites. long waits at..well, lets just say, if it's good, there will be long waits.

Freddy's closed from what I heard. Every time we ate there in the past year the whole family got a good gut cleaning. I heard they lost their license to sell beer.

K-bobs, the Stomach (Butter) Churn, The Roadhouse near Violet. All these places serve grease to go.

I love Tasty Taco, but have you ever look at the ceiling? Los Comales in Rockport is fantastic also!

Over the holidays I had heard that Freddie's had closed, but I didn't believe it. Now I know it is gone for good. Never cared for the place anyway.

If you like OG, you should try Portabella on SPID at Old Brownsville next to the Harley dealership. Food is better IMO, and prices are slightly better too.

by the time people parked and got out of their car, they realized they were hungry for pancakes and went next door to IHOP instead.

Is that the place by the lumber yard? My husband talks about it all the time. He and his fishing buddies eat there and said it is great.

Logan's is a subsidiary of Cracker Barrel. They have been around longer than Texas Roadhouse I think. On average Texas Roadhouse is a superior product compared to Logan's. The only way Logan's will succeed is because it has a great location.

lol...nothing better than a cheesy greaseburger!;)

I loved the potato soup at Tony Roma's with the bacon, cheese and chives in it!

With all of the restaurants closing in Corpus, it has me wondering "what gives". Is it our local economy, a business management decision or what? I can understand the Crystal Confectionary closing, I always thought their location was crummy. But the Black-Eyed Pea and Tony Roma's were in excellent locations on S.P.I.D. Maybe there are too many restaurants on that highway, but you certainly wouldn't think so by the lengths of the lines to get in.

I also, would be devasted if Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill closed.;)

It's right across from Gaslight Square, about a block from the old Cantina Santa Fe. It looks like a big red barn.
