Our last year in 5A back in 1985 against the #1 team in the nation Yates was one of the best games ever. Then when we dropped in 1986 to 4A those were some years!

go 8-2 two years in a row and dont make the playoffs... whew!

That's when we were in that tough 4A distrcit here. We beat some great teams including Port Neches Groves (PNG) and still couldn't get in...:mad:

Did yates end up winning state that year? I was only 3 when this took place.

To this day the Yates team of 85 was the biggest i've ever seen.

Notice our last season in 4A in 2000. That was a great team as well. Ennis was unbelievable in the Final.
