Trimble Tech baseball coach Michael Frick died early Tuesday after suffering from throat cancer for about two years, school officials said.
Frick, 47, came to Trimble Tech in 1999 as a linebackers coach in football and head baseball coach. He had spent the past six seasons as defensive coordinator for the football team, which led District 8-4A in total defense two seasons ago.
He missed three football games this season because of his health, head coach Gerry Magin said.
"He was a pretty tough guy -– what a fighter,” Magin said. "He wanted to be there in practice. He wanted to coach.”
His death is the second to hit the Trimble Tech coaching staff since school began. Assistant football coach David Baranowski died after collapsing at school on Aug. 9.

Coach Frick was a man on amazing strength. There were numerous times he probably shouldn't been at practice/games, but he was there was putting his two cents in. Coach Frick will be missed and never forgotten.
