Does anyone know where the current fires are in Texas. I can't find any info on the internet. I heard there was one near San Angelo, where I'm from.

I got info on Sterling City and Howard County from locals as I am on Duty at Snyder Fire Dept.

CNN is covering fires as Breaking News and it has been on continually for an hour or so.

Wow!!! I certainly hope rain comes soon for all who need it...we always associate wildfires with CA....I don't think I have ever seen anything like this in OK or TX!

We went through this in the late 90's when the drought was so severe and the temp was so high during the summer. I remember being out all day long when afternoon high temps were 105-108 several times.

Well since i am a Meteorologist if rain does not occur there before late Spring and Summer then you think it's bad now, just wait!!

I know you are right about that. Last year we had the 2nd most rain since records have been kept and our lake only came up to 35% capacity. We had just short of 43 inches of rain. Our lake was at a low of 3% in about 1998.

Global warming is a reality. However, it is more likely due to the sun becoming hotter and also increased seismic activity on the oceans' floors. This is even a more depressing scenario than environmentalists like to paint, because there is literally nothing we did to cause it nor is there anything we can do to reverse it.

Now that I've said that, I expect Northeast Texas to be hit with a blizzard and subzero temperatures within weeks.
