Does ANYONE know how to prevent static electricity in hair??

I swear, I am gonna have a nervous breakdown if we don't have some humidity soon.

I have tried Static Guard sprayed on my brush, wiped Bounce dyer sheets on my hair, rubbed lotion on my hands then lightly over my hair.....to NO AVAIL!!!

It is STILL sticking to my face, my back, my clothes....reaching out to touch someone when I pass them!!!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I am wearing two braids Pocohontos style right now just to keep it in place!!

Any home remedies (and not like the ones on the thread below)? Ranger Mom's sanity is at stake here!!

try getting a vaporizer and only putting water in it. The moisture in the air might help.

Good idea!!! I have one of those.....I think it's a vaporizer.

What's the difference between a vaporizer and a humidifier?? Isn't one cold mist and one hot mist?

roll it in bacon. it might get a little greasy but the static will disappear and it'll smell real purty.

I think I could start a forest fire (if there were any trees up here) with the static electricity we are generating!

Well keep a squirt bottle handy then and spray it down every once in a while and that should remedy the hair standing up.

Try wearing shoes with leather bottoms instead of rubber. It might help some. Have you noticed that it doesnt seem to be as bad when you are barefooted? Rubber soles tend to insulate you from the earth, therefore you get the static buildup in your body.
People who work on printed wireboards wear copper braclets that are connected to a ground bar with a small flex wire. Static is kept drained off all the time.

If none of these work, you could always move into a plastic bubble.

You know, i've been wondering why here lately i can't get out of the truck without getting a good shock along the way. Makes sense though, it is dry as a bone around here, and over large parts of Texas.

If you don't have leather seats...spray Downy on them--and the carpet too--it works for me :)

When the humidity is real low like we are experiencing now, there is a real danger of flash fires. When fueling up vehicles it is very important to keep your hand on the fuel nozzle or touch the car with hand away from fuel tank to prevent static discharge from possibly causing flash.

I have had a few 'shocks' lately that I wondered if it would have sparked a fire if I were gassing up

It is entirely possible. I have been on the FD for 21+ years and I know of 3 fuel flash fires here in Snyder. Not a large number unless you are one of the 3. Out of these one was burned about the face pretty bad. By keeping your hand in contact with the vehicle you prevent any static buildup.
