not all chapters have web sites - at least not a good as the DMSUA's ---- check WWW.TASO.ORG and look for:
http://www.intra-focus.com/taso/IMAGES/official2.jpg
there you SHOULD find a list of all the TASO chapters for the different sports.

doing both baseball AND softball is very, very hard ... none of our ~80 members do both

what level are you wanting to call? I have all the contact info for non-HS baseball. It's all under the Abilene Umpires Association. PM me if you want that info. A lot of the guys who call HS and NCAA ball also do little league/jr&sr/select ball

HAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAAAHHA!!!! Too funny.....

As a former football umpire in Louisiana, the games are fun to call if it's just the kids. The parents makes the games and officiating suck.

Speaking of umpires, my best friend is a Pro Umpire. He's currently in AAA doing the Pacific Coast League. He was called up to the Big League twice last season. He got me some killer seats in Arlington to watch one of his games. We were seated amongst the players wives and families. It was great.

I referee high school basketball here in Austin and have been since my freshman year. The best part is that when I walk onto the court, or in the school, people think I'm one of the players.

If you are going to umpire for the love of the sport you will become a great umpire...........if it is for the money you will burn out quickly. Take it from a 25 year veteran.

so true ... we like to say - we don't do it for the $ but couldn't do it without the $ ...

actually, for officials, baseball/softball have more up-front costs than any other sport. luckily, if you take care of your gear it can last a long time
