what a sham!

How does Jamial Shelton (Wharton) catch 54 passes for almost 900 yards and not even make 2nd team? I think that the Cuero fans will vouch for him.

He's a very good receiver... depends on what the other receivers did that took his spot...

Someone should have bought TexasPrepXtra a freakin map for Christmas. Cuero, Luling, Gonzalez and Hallettsville are not defined as the "Houston area" by anyone I know.

I don't know why Houston has that area in their area?

buying them a clue first would be ideal...

Cuero is 90 miles South of Austin, 85 miles southeast of San Antonio, 90 miles North of Corpus Christi and 130-140 (?) miles Southwest of Houston...

Austin doesn't cover us, San Antonio does when we're good and Corpus Christi doesn't cover us...

We used to always play Columbus in predistrict a lot, currently play Sealy and Wharton (all Houston area schools) and usually meet up with the Houston area schools in the first round of the playoffs...

Luling is covered by Austin, but the rest of the district isn't... If San Antonio covers Cuero, they are not covering the rest of the district, and as already mentioned, Corpus doesn't cover this area...

SO, I guess Houston would be the next resort, eh?

And the 'Victoria Area' really doesn't carry much clout in that regard...

Personally, I believe we should be considered "El Paso Area" ;) :D

Also I believe that TPX's Houston correspondent covered Cuero, not sure if they could find any correspondents further South... Then they had the Central Texas correspondent...

So since their correspondent picked up on our area, he decided to include them in the all-area teams...

i have a question. i know this is somewhat of an old topic, but how can Stafford have 3 guys on the 1st team when they didn't even make the playoffs?

Some of the tweener districts were put in one area or another if one writer knew the area coaches more than the other. I know the Cuero, Edna and Yoakum coaches and I have talked to the others before. I also get their official district stats and since we had no San Antonio area writer we decided to move them into the Houston Area.

As for why one person got in over another there was a lot of research we put into that one including going over all the nomination forms, over 600 turned in, for the area/state. Many times it came down to how can we keep this person out or this one, in the end either you have 10 WR's or QB's per team or jsut bit the bullet and take the barbs.

Also keep in mind, some coaches are pretty darn convincing when nominating players giving stats, testimonials, etc, while others just send in Player X, WR as their nomination. That does influence picks.
