It will be on from 5 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. so you may need to set your recorders. These are three great movies made in the 1950s with this great actor that was not fully utilized by Hollywood. The first movie is The Asphalt Jungle (1950) about a Jewel heist. This was the bestt movie up to that time that had the plot that the robbery goes ok but it is what happened afterward that does the criminals in. It was a theme used in many westerns and plots afterward. Hayden is great as the hood Dix but Sam Jaffe as Doc who masterminds the heist was magnificient and was nominated for an oscar. I don't know who won that year but it must have been great to beat out Jaffe's performance which is worth watching the movie alone but it is a great movie. Also worth watching for is a young Marilyn Monroe as Angela.
Afterward is a great western about the Alamo with Hayden playing Jim Bowie in the movie The Last Command. Appearing in this movie also were some stars such as Ernest Borgnine and Jim Davis (the father in the tv series Dallas). The movie points out that at one time Bowie and Santa Anna were good friends but had to end up on opposite sides.
The next movie is The Killing with a similar plot to The Asphalt Jungle but this one involves a racetract heist. A good movie indeed with an ironic ending.
