Congrats to a lot of 3A southeast TX players!

First-team
offense
QB: Kenneth Beasley
West Orange-Stark, 5-10, 160, senior
Accomplishments: The University of Texas commit and top 10 recruit in the state was "Dave Campbell's Texas Football" Class 3A player of the year after passing for 23 TDs and running for 23 more.

RB: Toddrick Pendland
Newton, 5-9, 168, senior
Accomplishments: Head coach Curtis Barbay called him the best running back ever to play for him at Newton. That's saying something, since Barbay's been there for 31 seasons. Scoring a school-record 76 career touchdowns can leave a lasting impression.

RB: Clifton Simien
Hardin-Jefferson, 6-2, 185, senior
Accomplishments: Hard, consistent runner pounded opponents for 1,428 yards and 18 touchdowns. Simien had 2,749 yards and 35 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Hawks.

Utility: Ryan Butler
Nederland, 5-9, 160, senior
Accomplishments: The Bulldogs' Mr. Everything caught passes, threw passes, returned kicks, defended passes and took home District 20-4A MVP honors. He finished with 29 receptions for 483 yards and five touchdowns. He threw a touchdown pass, and he intercepted three passes.

WR: Malcolm Lewis
Woodville, 6-2, 175, senior
Accomplishments: The District 23-2A MVP lit up his competition for 51 receptions, 877 yards and 15 touchdowns -including 189 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles' toughest opponent, Newton.

WR: Chris Royal
Ozen, 6-0, 205, senior
Accomplishments: Big, strong, fast and dependable hands. What more could you ask for? Royal used every attribute and emerged this season as an offensive star for 697 yards and eight touchdowns on 29 receptions.

WR: Mason Fisher
Barbers Hill, 6-2, 185, junior
Accomplishments: Has the height and apparently the hands for success as Fisher hauled in 49 passes for 987 yards and nine touchdowns. Oh, with seven interceptions on defense, Fisher, the District 23-3A MVP, defended passes almost as well as he caught them.

OL: James Gulley
Central, 6-3, 270, senior
Accomplishments: The only unanimous selection on offensive line for all-District 20-4A, Gulley helped Central return to the playoffs and earn a district title one year removed from a 1-9 season.

OL: Ahmad Jones
Silsbee, 6-2, 300, junior
Accomplishments: Gave enough push up front to be a unanimous first team all-District 22-3A selection and help the Tigers make the playoffs.

OL: Nick Landry
West Brook, 6-6, 255, senior
Accomplishments: Standout on a top-level offensive line that facilitated the Bruins' 344 yards per game average.

OL: Adam Aycock
Barbers Hill, 6-3, 275, senior
Accomplishments: Aycock was a unanimous selection for all-District 23-3A and he earned second team all-state honors.

OL: Jerrod Gooch
Vidor, 6-4, 295, junior
Accomplishments: A first-team all-District 20-4A selection, whose brother is a lineman at Louisiana Tech, is receiving early attention from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.

K: Drew Hazlewood
Kirbyville, 5-10, 171, senior
Accomplishments: Clutch, simply clutch. A do-it-all performer who also played quarterback, Hazlewood hit a 23-yard, last-second field goal to beat Barbers Hill, 36-34.

First-team defense

DL: Ron Mohica Nederland, 6-1, 300, senior Accomplishments: The defensive MVP for District 20-4A and two-time second team all-state recipient was a four-year starter at Nederland.

DL: Terrence Freeman Newton, 6-4, 225, senior Accomplishments: Freeman, with 74 tackles and seven sacks, was a main reason quarterbacks never had enough time to get off a pass against the Eagles.

DL: Mack Randall Ozen, 6-8, 280, senior Accomplishments: A nemesis in the trenches, Randle blocked two extra points during the season, including the game-tying point in the Panthers' 14-13 bi-district playoff win over Dayton.

DL: Steven Steed Silsbee, 6-3, 245, senior Accomplishments: A standout final season with Silsbee earned Steed distinction as defensive player of the year for District 22-3A.

LB: Richard Simmons Hemphill, 6-2, 245, senior Accomplishments: Has big size and big numbers to match. After 139 tackles, nine sacks and four interceptions, Simmons made Class 2A first team all-state and earned District 20-2A MVP.

LB: Deron Minor Ozen, 6-1, 200, senior Accomplishments: Minor was the only unanimous all-District 20-4A selection on defense after 73 tackles, including nine for a loss, and two pass breakups in the regular season.

LB: Sean Weatherspoon Jasper, 6-1, 200, senior Accomplishments: The do-it-all linebacker, who earned second-team Class 3A all-state recognition, had 98 tackles, five tackles for a loss, two sacks, two caused fumbles, two interceptions and four blocked passes in 10 games this season.

LB: Drew Johnston Newton, 6-0, 215, senior Accomplishments: The glue that held Newton's state championship defense together with more than 100 tackles, 10 sacks and three interceptions.

DB: Robert Joseph Memorial, 6-2, 180, senior Accomplishments: The hard-hitting defender was a two-way starter at a Class 5A school and nearly put Memorial in the playoffs.

DB: E.J. LeBlanc West Brook, 5-6, 155, senior Accomplishments: Hard to tackle, LeBlanc had 103 return yards after his five interceptions this season. He also averaged 40 yards on his regular season kickoff returns.

DB: Earl Thomas West Orange-Stark, 5-11, 170, junior Accomplishments: The District 24-3A MVP improved every week in helping WO-S to the state semifinals and helping himself to second-team all-state accolades.

DB: Blake Patton Barbers Hill, 6-0, 175, junior Accomplishments: He's just a junior but earned his second selection to Super Gold and honorable mention all-state for Class 3A after three interceptions and two passes broken up this year.

P: Jeff Stringer Bridge City, 5-10, 165, senior Accomplishments: The senior's big leg averaged more than 43 yards per punt.
