I think Player of the Year Canyon's #21 Jered Peddy is Downlow poster Football4Life? Sorry if wrong, uniform number was not given
in the article.

2005 Class 3A Golden Spread Team

Coach of the Year
Blake Bryant, Canyon
Led the Eagles to their second straight 1-3A title and has now won eight straight district games.



Player of the Year
Jared Peddy, Canyon
The senior was Canyon's playmaker. He led the area in receiving and had 14 receiving and rushing touchdowns on offense. He also picked off 10 passes as a cornerback on defense.


Offense

QB: ANTHONY RAMOS, CANYON, 5-9, 170, JR.: Completed 221 of 307 passes for 3,357 yards with 33 TDs and two interceptions.

RB: BRADY BLACK, MULESHOE, 6-0, 205, SR.: Ran for 1,144 yards and scored 22 TDs. Was injured late in the season.

RB: JAKE ROMERO, CANYON, 6-1, 190, JR.: Ran for 906 yards with 11 TDs.

RB: RICARDO GONZALES, BORGER, 5-10, 225, JR.: Ran for 657 yards and eight TDs before getting hurt.

WR: JARED PEDDY, CANYON, 5-11, 170, SR.: Caught an area-high 84 passes for 1,103 yards and 13 TDs.

WR: BRADY BRESSLER, CANYON, 5-11, 175, SR.: Had 43 catches for 904 yards and 12 TDs.

OL: CADE HALES, CANYON, 6-4, 255, SR.: Unanimous all-district selection for team that averaged 489 yards a game.

OL: PABLO ALVARADO, PERRYTON, 5-11, 260, SR.: Tallied 38 pancakes for 1-3A runners-up.

OL: BRAD WALL, PERRYTON, 6-1, 190, SR.: A first-team all-district selection.

OL: SETH BRACKETT, CANYON, 6-1, 195, SR.: Blocked for an offense that gained 489 yards a game.

OL: CALEB WESTBROOK, BORGER, 6-2, 255, SR.: Graded at 95 percent with 26 pins.

K: JIMMY HOPPER, CANYON, 5-9, 169, SR.: Scored 79 points in and hit three field goals from more than 40 yards.
Defense


DL: NOLAN HALE, PERRYTON, 5-10, 255, SR.: Strong and quick, had 55 total tackles.

DL: GEOFF SIRKEL, MULESHOE, 6-0, 225, SR.: Had 71 total tackles and four sacks.

DL: RIGO MENDOZA, MULESHOE, SR., 6-0, 255, SR.: 92 total tackles and had three sacks.

LB: TYLER WHITWORTH, BORGER, 6-1, 225, SR.: Led Bulldogs with 119 tackles.

LB: KRIS CAMPOS, CANYON, 6-0, 215, JR.: Had 97 tackles and three sacks.

LB: BRANT SHORES, BORGER, 5-10, 200, JR.: 89 total tackles and had four sacks.

LB: BRET BAMERT, MULESHOE, 6-0, 190, SR.: Led Mules with 105 total tackles.

DB: CHARLIE MANN, PERRYTON, 5-10, 180, SR.: 110 solo tackles and picked off three passes.

DB: GREG FRANKLIN, CANYON, 6-2, 175, SR.: 94 tackles and broke up 14 passes.

DB: ANDREW HORTON, BORGER, 6-0, 180, JR.: 66 total tackles and intercepted three passes.

DB: JEREMY CAMPBELL, PERRYTON, 6-2, 187, SR.: Despite missing part of the season with mononucleosis, was named first-team all-district.

P: BRANT HAMILTON, MULESHOE, 5-11, 170 JR.: Averaged 36 yards a kick and pinned four inside the 20.

Yea i've always liked em. But the crappy thing is that they will be getting new ones next year, right after i stinkin graduate!!:mad:

congratulations on a great senior season. I saw the Eagles game against Wylie. coulda-shoulda-woulda kicked that field goal!!!

Thanks. Yea that game haunts me daily, but not because of not kicking the field goal. Yea now it seems like the smart thing to do, but at the time, we were playing the defending state champs, we had them on the ropes, and we had an opportunity to go for the throat. They hadn't slowed us down much all night. Maybe it wasn't the right play, maybe it just wasn't our night to win. But oh well, you're right, coulda shoulda woulda.:)
