According to the Abilene Reporter-News, the search for a new football coach continues. Here is a link to hear an interview with the Gail Gregg, the Cooper principal on the subject.

Coaches beware
December 21, 2005

I just wanted to say how disappointed our family was in the firing of Marty Secord by AISD and Gail Gregg. When Marty and Kellie came back to Abilene two and a half years ago they knew the Cooper High School football program was struggling - otherwise coach Quisenberry would still be here. Marty chose to come anyway and try to rebuild the pride CHS had always had in their program. This job loss was a surprise to Marty and his family. If Marty's firing is because he lost and did not make the playoffs, we need to look at all the CHS programs. All the coaches that have been losing at CHS are good coaches, but do you fire them for not winning? In Coach Warren's third year at AHS, he did not win a district game but in his fourth year took AHS to the regional quarterfinals. By only allowing coach Secord two years, you never gave him or his staff a chance to get their program in gear.

I wonder who will be willing to step into those shoes. Beware potential coaches!
