The reason i posted that was i was surprised how many people have never tried it. It's everywhere here since we're on the Texas/Louisiana Border.

The first time I ever ate Boudian was @ Steamboat Bills (or something like that) in Lake Charles and they had a big sign when you walked in the door - "FRIED BOUDIAN BALLS - 5 FOR $10.00"

well, after some "off color humor" we all had a HUGE laugh,, I thought I'd try some, and to my surprise, they were delicious.

** Just how big is a Boudian?

** Just how big is a Boudian? Boudian is a link, mainly a dirty rice taste with spices and other things!! :D

From first hand experience, I can tell you it's never as big as you would like it to be and it's nowhere near as big as you tell your friends it is... :D

Oh, I know.. I was just being silly...... my mom and dad were originally from our neighbor to the East.... been eating gumbo and jumbalaya all my life, but I hadn't tried Boudian until that trip.. I was surprised when the waiter told me it was in links like sausage........ I have found that "homemade" is much better than the stuff in the stores with an expiration date posted on it :)

It is. The homemade stuff is better than store bought. There are a few stores in Louisiana that make it there and it's great!

Maybe GS can explain it better, but it's like dirty rice in a link. Very popular in Louisiana.

Sweetwater Red those pistollettes or however you spell it is real good, I spend alot of time in louisiana and the food is great, their an appetizer. Gumbo and the other stuff gets real old real quick. I spend alot of time in fouchon and galliano thats the end of the world where the locals don't wear shoes to go to wal-mart but the food is great, I don't recommend anyone go there please.
