Cream of Wheat in the morning!

Homemade Stew or Chili works well with Cornbread!

Also, have any of you tried my Santa Fe Soup (read other thread!)

I guess that depends on which part of Texas you live in. Gumbo isn't really a "Texas" food.

Oh! And you can't just go out and try it at any 'ol restaurant. There are very few that can make it as good as home-made. Your chances of getting good gumbo in Louisiana restaurants is much better than in Texas too.

Try it!!! Gumbo is very good. I didn't taste Gumbo until I moved to Beaumont about 4 years ago. It's good if you like chicken, sausage, shrimp, crawfish, crab, etc.... You can put just about any type of meat in it. Oh yea, my favorite cold weather food it CHILI.

1) Chicken and Sausage Gumbo
2) Chili
3) Homemade soup

There's nothing like a good, homemade pot of gumbo! :)

Deer chili and red beans. Also like to throw a rack of pork ribs and a whole back strap on the pit and let them slow cook all day.
