There was a QB from Rogers named Patrick Hutka that was awesome, but I havent heard anything about him since.

I think Kirby Freeman (Brownwood to Miami) or Chase Daniels (SLC to MIZZOU) will be the next ones to really shine on the TV..

Considering that just a few weeks ago, ESPN named Sammy Baugh the top QB in college history and he is rated as the #3 all time college player, VY has a way to go.

Just because he is the godfather of the PASSING GAME! He pretty much started it all. I played high school ball for his son David Baugh!!

There was also a pair of brothers, both QB's that made the NFL. One is still active. Ty and Koy Detmer. (Both were Texas Highschoolers)

The irony here is that David is a grind it out Wing T type of football coach. His wife was my 1st grade teacher during his tenure in IP. He had some great football teams here including a Regional runner up.

I have nothing but respect for that man. He was a good coach!! He wasn't a very motivational coach, but he had his ways to get us siked about a football game.

I didnt know Drew Brees was from Texas. wow. How about the boys from Jacksonville, TX? Not the greatest but very good. I know Josh is with the Cardinals and I know another played somewhere. There was a third brother that played college ball but I dont think he went to the NFL

Freeman will probably back up Wright the whole time he's at the U.

The Detmer bros, Andre Ware, Vince Young, Doak Walker, the All-American QB that Rice had back in the 50's (can't remember his name for the life of me), Sammy Baugh, and Baugh's successor, Davey O'Brien, are a few the pop out in my mind.

I gotta say Sammy Baugh on this one. You gotta go way back but he was a great QB and P. However, I might be a little biased.

Ok Tweeder, a little history lesson. Question, did Sammy Baugh attend Sweetwater High School?

Good job, I'm proud of you. You know your history better than some of the posters you went to school with. It became SHS when they built the new high school.

I believe that Major Applewhite is from LA.
Chris Simms never did anything to take the job from MA.
Applewhite went from being conference offensive player of the year to backup behind a guy he had to bail out on several occasions.
