Good grief your schools are big wusses! Ive seen 6 or 7 inches on the ground here, and they dont even consider letting us out! We are more used to it though, and i will say its quite interesting to do a little driving in the snow.

That's why I love south Texas! A little bit of ice...school is canceled--buses not safe on icy roads. Besides, the power is out...all the power lines are down because of the weight of the ice...you drive 30 mph to the Wal-Mart in the next town because word on the street is they have power (and a heater)...you slow down to 25 mph because you don't know how to drive on the ice...there's ice on the road because town/hwy. dept. in south Texas doesn't own salt trucks, scrapers, etc. ...of course there are always the maniacs who drive 80 mph on an icy overpass and make the news...you go to the garage to get the innertubes and garbage can lids so you can make a sled to pull behind your truck on the icy roads because, after all, if you don't know how to drive on ice to begin with, why not spice it up and add unprotected youngsters laying down on Rubbermaid box lids being pulled by a ski rope attached to the gooseneck hitch?

We had our first snowfall on Thanksgiving, and it hasn't been too bad since then. A cold drizzle out, but at least no ice on the roads. I have my winter tires on, but it's still dangerous. I like the snow, but not driving in it...

I've seen it snow 9 inches here and school didn't let out. I've also seen -30 wind-chill temps and they didn't close school for that either. That's cold enough to be dangerous for kids outside waiting for the bus!

Driving in snow is better than driving in ice.

We set a record low for today at 5 degrees, where it stands right now. Only supposed to get up to 15. I dont think we are going to get much snow if any at all. Shoot!

No snow here, but I had NO water this morning...all the pipes froze!

I felt like one of those rich people brushing my teeth with "bottled water":D
