POWER RANKINGS from cbs.sportsline.com

Current Team Previous
1 Indianapolis Colts 1
They face their stiffest test of the season this week when they play division rival Jacksonville on the road. Is this the week they go down?

2 Seattle Seahawks 3
They showed the NFL that they are for real this week. The NFC playoffs will go likely go through Seattle.

3 Denver Broncos 2
The loss at Kansas City was a tough one, but they're still in control of their own destiny in the division. They better hope those Jake Plummer mistakes aren't a sign of things to come.

4 Jacksonville Jaguars 4
This is their week to show the NFL that they are an elite team. Beat the Colts, and look out.

5 Chicago Bears 5
They've won eight straight games. Can you imagine if they actually had a passing game? That defense is dominating.

6 Cincinnati Bengals 7
With the way the offense is playing, they're going to be tough to beat come playoff time. If they don't blow it, they're in as division champs.

7 San Diego Chargers 8
If they don't make the playoffs, it will be a crime. This is one of the league's better teams.

8 Carolina Panthers 9
They seem to be rounding into form at just the right time of the year. The running game is cranked up, which is a must for this team.

9 New York Giants 10
If the defense can play like it did against Dallas, they're going to be tough to beat. Tom Coughlin has this team improving every week.

10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14
Their division showdown with Carolina is huge this week. The Panthers have owned them, so that's something to consider.

11 Kansas City Chiefs 13
They have a brutal four-game stretch the rest of the way, so if they make the playoffs they'll have earned it. With that running game, they have a real chance.

12 Pittsburgh Steelers 6
What in the heck has happened to that defense? The Steel Curtain has become a Tissue Curtain. Their playoff chances are in trouble.

13 Minnesota Vikings 15
Don't look now but Mike Tice has his team in the thick of the playoff race. Who is that guy wearing Brad Johnson's uniform?

14 New England Patriots 16
The defense finally stopped somebody. Then again, it was just the Jets. Tom Brady bounced back in a nice way.

15 Dallas Cowboys 11
The offense has suddenly come back to reality, which is a concern. They have a big one with the Chiefs this week.

16 Atlanta Falcons 12
At 7-5 with two tough road games coming up, they have an urgency to what they're doing. They can't stop the run.

17 Washington Redskins 17
That was a must-have against the Rams, and they responded. They're still in the playoff chase.

18 Philadelphia Eagles 18
Their ugly season turned uglier Monday night. Even T.O. and Donovan McNabb might not have prevented that from happening.

19 Miami Dolphins 21
This team has spunk, which we expect from a Nick Saban-coached team. They're fighting every week, which is impressive.

20 St. Louis Rams 19
The resumes have to be piling onto the desk of president John Shaw. Whoever takes this job has a lot of work to do to fix it.

21 Baltimore Ravens 23
Was that a job-saver for Brian Billick? Or were the signs of life in Kyle Boller a sign of things to come?

22 Buffalo Bills 20
J.P. Losman comes to life, but the defense continues to struggle. They're playing for next year now.

23 Oakland Raiders 22
They can't get to 20 points? That's not a good thing for Norv Turner and his job security.

24 Arizona Cardinals 27
There's some good, young talent on this team and Kurt Warner can still zip the potato around. Now they need to fix the offensive line.

25 Tennessee Titans 24
Once upon a time -- like two years ago -- this was an elite team. Memo to the rest of the league: this is what cap hell brings.

26 Cleveland Browns 25
Charlie Frye should be playing the rest of the way. The kid has some poise for a rookie.

27 New Orleans Saints 26
Aaron Brooks, thanks for your time. The Saints passer has worn out his welcome here.

28 Green Bay Packers 28
It's time to sit Brett Favre down. Sad as that may sound, it's what needs to happen.

29 Detroit Lions 29
Maybe it's time they changed presidents instead of coaches. There's a lot not to like about this team.

30 New York Jets 30
Exhibit No. 1 in the argument as to why the quarterback is the cure for a lot of ills. They don't have one.

31 San Francisco 49ers 31
They're staying in games and that's a good thing. They're not winning them, which is also a good thing -- think draft.

32 Houston Texans 32
They now have leased this spot to own. They almost got out of it, but now they have to be thinking about Reggie Bush.
