Earlier in this discussion I posted a topic on how the Leps are a 4th quarter team. Once again they pulled one out in the final minutes. With the score tied 14 all in a very evenly matched game the Leps stopped the Bobcats on 4th and 10 at their 31 yardline. Three plays latter they had made a first down and were 2nd and inches for another at midfield. The snap went on the ground and Orangefield recovered with about 3:40 on the clock. The Bobcats moved down the field to the 9 yardline 1st and goal to goal. This is where conditioning paid off. The next play the Bobcats finally got called for holding against the pass rushers (something they were doing repeatedly). On the following play Modica rolled out to the right under tremendous pressure from the Lep rush and threw down the sideline to #3 Farias at the 6. The ball was high and Sam Gunn running towards the sideline intercepted the ball just before he ran out of bounds on the 5. On the next play Anderle went right on the Qb option ran into some Bobcat defenders bounced to the left into open field and went 85 yards, finally stopped with a shoe string tackle on the 10. With about 40 seconds remaining the Leps had 1st and goal on the 10. One play latter Anderle kept off the right for no gain. Coach V ran the clock down to 5 seconds and called time out. Now, as some have stated before in this venue, the Leps have had some problems with the kicking game this season. Last week Coach V brought a freshman safety and kicker, Hunter Kallus, up to kick on varsity. He made his first extra point against Sealy (the other td they scored 2). He was 2 for 2 tonight. Now the 14 year old freshman kicker had the game on his toe. Of course OF took both their remaining timeouts to freeze him. Finally, the snap was good, the ball was down, and the kick sailed right through the uprights for the lead 17-14 Leps. The clock read 1 second at this point, but for some reason they moved it to 2 seconds! On the kick-off not one second went off the clock...amazingly time had stood still for the Bobcats. The final play, a desparation pass against a prevent Defense, went incomplete and the Leps came out with the win. Great game Leps. And hats off to a great Orangefield team. What a terrific passing attack they had. Go Leps get ready for the next round. :D

The extra time outs had no affect on Hunter...he was cool as a cucumber, now his mom and dad were in the stands feeling all the anxiety known to man! Way to go LEPS!
