SBC All-Big 12 Honors Notebook:

Vince Young is the fourth player from Texas to be named SBC Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Jamaal Charles is the fifth SBC Offensive Freshman of the Year from UT, while Brian Orakpo is the fourth Longhorn to be named SBC Defensive Freshman of the Year. The three totals for each award are the most of any school in the league.

Nick Reid and Robert Johnson's selections mark the first time a player from their schools have won the respective awards.

Oklahoma has had the SBC Defensive Newcomer of the Year three times in the last four seasons.

Mack Brown's SBC Coach of the Year honor marks the first time a Texas mentor has earned Big 12 recognition.

Reid's honor is just the third major award for a KU athlete. Previous Jayhawks who earned accolades include Joe Vaughn (2003) and Bill Whittemore (2002), who were both named SBC Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

Texas and Oklahoma are tied for the most major award honorees in the 10-year history of the Big 12 with 16 each. Kansas State is next with 11 winners, followed by Nebraska (7), Iowa State (6), Colorado (5) and Texas Tech (4).

Seven athletes garnered SBC All-Big 12 First Team accolades for the second time in their careers. Willie Andrews (Baylor), Mason Crosby (Colorado), Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma), Justin Blalock (Texas), Jonathan Scott (Texas) and Michael Huff (Texas) were repeat selections from a year ago. Dusty Dvoracek (Oklahoma) earned honors for the second time after being tabbed in 2003.
