I got to give him credit for something original. It would be nice if it came to pass though. It would make him look like a genius.

Hey sinton player that's a nice pick but i think some of the other heavy contenders will have something to say about that...Well at least from sinton point of view. Forney does have a nice shot this year. They have to beat Gainville first though.

i think gainesville will come out on top of that part of the bracket and will be in the state game

Name the good teams that Gainesville has played
this year. Then name the good teams that those
teams have beaten.

To mrleopardfan

Celina is a good team but probably not deserving
of a #8 ranking. I bet there are at least 20 3A
teams that could beat them this year. This is not
to diminish what they have accomplished in the
past, because their program speaks for itself.
They play the schedule that is laid out for them, but they have not beaten a good team yet.
Pilot Point has a great history also, but I would
not refer to them as a good team this year. You
also mentioned beating some 4A teams, but you
have to be honest. They were terrible 4A teams
this year ( just like Mabank was a terrible 4A
team that Forney beat )

Forney, with the exception of Aledo and Mesquite
Horn, also had a relatively weak schedule, but
only because Commerce, Crandall, and Wilmer
Hutchins are all down this year.

My point is this. You find out how good you are
during the playoffs when you play other good
teams. The rankings during the season really mean
nothing. They identify the good teams but not
necessarily who are the best teams.

That's a lot of offense between those teams! On a similar note-I saw a record was broken for most points allowed in a single season: FW Carter-Riverside yielded a state record 623 points........

Points scored and points allowed should not be
an indicator of a team's strength. You have to
judge the opponents that you play. I think Forney
scored 460 points, an average of 46 per game. The
most impressive points were the 17 we scored at
Aledo. Also, we gave up 161 but most of those were late in games when our second and third teams were playing against our opponent's
starters.

I am impressed with a team that allows less than 75 points in a season, or scores an average of 50 points per game, or RBs that rack up 200 yards per game and score no less than 2 TDs, or a WR/TE with an average over 20 yards per touch. I agree that the end results are the ultimate grade, but there can only be one state champion...what do the others hang their hats on? If your team does not win the title, will the college scouts turn their backs on the individuals that did excell throughout the season?

Please do not misunderstand my post. I was only
trying to point out that the total points scored
or allowed does not indicate the true strength of
a team. I agree with you that it should not
diminish the accomplishments of individuals or
teams that pile up these impressive statistics.
What Gainesville, Forney, Burnet and other teams
have done this year is outstanding. Likewise,
many individuals ( Hanie, Laury, McGee, Shipley,
and a lot more ) are great players that have had
great seasons.
