finished 5-6 with wins over TCU, UAB, Rice, Houston & UTEP ... nice progress for the Ponies

did Phil Bennet save his job by finishing with 3 straight wins?

I think the TCU victory by itself got him at least another season, 3AFan.

you'd think that, but losing to a team like a&m can't be good either.

I saw SMU play this past Saturday. They looked pretty good but they played dirty.

i was at the game as a recruit and saw no dirty play. I saw UTEP turn the ball over A LOT!!! and that cost them. SMU is getting better, and it looks as though i might be going there.

Coach deserves another year.
They have come a long way since the death penalty.

actually they are way overdue ... new programs (South Florida, UAB for example) have had better success than SMU since the death penalty

Just saw quite a few late hits and such. One of the Utep players received an unnecessary injury. Other than that, Smu played a dang good ball game. Anybody know if they are bowl eligible?

From what I understand, that was the plan.

As an old time Mustang fan, I took great pleasure in watching the late season success for SMU. I also remember fondly interviewing Jerry Bennett, Phil's brother, when he was the coach at Jefferson.

Ctownrec5, you did a good job against Gilmer. I hope you will go to SMU and help us get over the .500 mark. That makes BCS teams bowl eligible, but I am afraid that now that SMU is not "big" school anymore it will take a better percentage that that for us. Look at TCU last year!

M-U-S-T-A-N-G-S! FIGHT!

I had a buddy that went to SMU the year they got off death row. I remeber they had Notre dame scheduled that season. Talk about scary. thats when ND was decent.
